Harley 05-008

Profile

Harley arrived yesterday as a shy, but sweet puppy. He is one of ten puppies left out in the cold along with the mom to fend for themselves (one had already found a home by the time a volunteer arrived at the HS). He is half Golden Retriever and Lab, but has the great Golden personality. He is no longer shy, rather he loves to cuddle and greet people at the door. His whole body shakes with excitement as he waits to be petted when someone comes in. He is a great mimic as he copies everything our two year old Golden does, even to the head movements. He loves to play ball and will retrieve it for more play. He has also learned to "throw" the ball with his head. He is a medium golden color and is starting to develop longer hair on his back. He is off to the vet tomorrow.

Harley has changed completely in the 10 days he has been here. He now knows how to play ball, loves to fetch and plays with our 2 year old Golden. He responds to treats and will sit for them or do just about anything else for a treat. When he arrived, he had no clue as to what they were. He gets along well with everyone in our house and loves the kids. He follows me everywhere. He has gotten used to normal household noises so that he no longer flinches or hides.

He went to the vet last week where he was given a clean bill of health. He has some ointment for his eyes allowing them to clear up also. He is working on housetraining.

Harley is a joy to have here. He is very sweet and doesn't chew or shred things. He loves to carry around things that may not have been picked up, like a sock. He parades around the house with it and will gladly give it back to you. He is a very happy pup; it's as if he somehow knows he has a new chance at life.
