Dear Santa,

Boy, this is my first Christmas! I have been trying my hardest to be good this year, I promise. I haven't chewed on anything I shouldn't have, I don't have accidents in the house, I have been happy and friendly to all humans and other furry friends, so I hope I get some awesome goods this year. What's on the top of my list, you may ask? It's not all the tinsel and presents that I want for my first Christmas. What I want more than anything (yes, even more than rawhides and stuffed squeaky toys): a home that I can call my own. For good. For-ev-er. To me, this would mean the world. My foster family treats me well - they snuggle me, they feed me delicious food and treats, they play with me to no avail, but there's just that feeling that I'm missing, and that's that feeling where you KNOW that you're home. And to me, that would be the best Christmas gift a little black puppy could ask for.

I know this is a hefty bill to fit, Santa, and I know that it's not something that lots of little 4-month-old puppies ask for, but I'm a smart cookie and know what I want. Foster Mom says I have a heart of Gold(en). Will you try your hardest to find that for me? Until then, I will be SQUIRREL!!!! GOTTA GO!!

Many Licks,

Harley

Harley loves his stuffed panda. How cute are his floppy ears?!

Harley also loves his toy dog named Dug from the movie "Up." He knows which leg to push to get him to talk. Smart Boy!

Look how big he's getting! Waiting at the gate for some food and to play with the RD.

Inquisitive Harley.

Hey, Harley's Herd! Harley is doing great, like always! He's gaining weight, size, and he's mellowing out a bit. He also has had 0 accidents in the house in the past few weeks (knock on wood) - the consistency of our week and knowing his signals for when he has to go outside has been cause for such success; he usually waits by the door and whines to go outside. We're also going to start training him with a bell near the door so that people inside can hear him sitting next to the door when he has to go outside as well.

Harley also has been learning some new tricks - he has already mastered "sit," "leave it," "come here," and now is learning "stay," "lay down," and "drop." Have I ever mentioned that he is SUPER easy to train?! He's so stinkin' smart!

He is also great in the car (he can get in and out by himself now) - he really likes it, since he gets to visit people and new places when he gets out of the car! He does great with houseguests and when he's in other houses, all he wants to do is be by people, so he doesn't wander far, and he knows where the doors are so he can tell people when he has to go outside.

I also took him to a nursing home this week, and he did fantastic there! He was a huge hit with staff, residents, and kids that were in the building. He knows when he needs to be gentle, and he nailed it here. He can get an occasional case of the "zoomies" at my house, but he was great when we were with the seniors. He could be a great therapy dog someday, I'm sure.

Harley will be at the Burnsville Petco Meet and Greet this Saturday from 12-2, so if you would like to meet him (and he would LOVE to meet you!), come on down and give this little guy a lot of lovin'!

Until next time, here are some more pictures of little Harley.

Harley loves playing with his toys! This is him sitting so that I will throw them for him to fetch.

He's passed out after an afternoon of fun on Thanksgiving.

Look at those cute little paws - all of them have cute little white spots on them!

Dreaming of his forever home.....

Someone likes to cuddle up on the couch and watch football. It's definitely Harley!

Hello again, Harley admirers! It's been a whole week since I've updated, and Harley is still doing better than ever. He's learning so much about how to behave as a big puppy - whether it's greeting new guests at the house, playing with other dogs, or how to act when it's just FM, FD, and the cats.

Harley is now 28 lbs! Can you believe it?! Seems like just yesterday that we weighed him at the vet and weighed 23 lbs. He's growing fast! The vet said he would grow to be anywhere between 40-50, so he's getting there. Harley still thinks he is a lap dog, no matter what he weighs, though.

Oh, Harley wants to say a few things: Harley here! Can I just say that I had the BEST weekend I've had in a while?! Not only were the humans home, they brought over more humans to stay with us for the weekend! I played board games with the boys, romped around craft areas with the girls, and played fetch, and wrestled, and ran, and had all sorts of fun! And they didn't tell me the best part until the rest got here - they brought me two other dogs to play with!!! And one was a little guy that was my age! We played from the moment they got here to the moment they left - needless to say, I was pooped all day Sunday. When I woke up Sunday morning, I looked for all the dogs, but unfortunately, all I found was cats - one will run around with me, but only on his terms. So I was a little sad. But I hope they come back soon so that I can have someone to run around with! Have a great week everyone, and I'm still looking for my forever home with you!

Thanks, Harley. If you think that this loveable pile of fur would settle down nicely in your home, contact your placement adviser about him! I can't sing his praises enough - with a little obedience training, he will be the perfect family dog. Oh, and did I ever mention that since he has such a short coat of fur, he doesn't leave any of it around my house?! How nice is that?

Here are more updated pictures from the past week in Harley's Hangout- isn't he adorable?! Until next time!

Harley LOVES his belly rubs!  This calms him down when he gets a case of the "zoomies"!

This chair pretty much belongs to my 2 resident cats - he loves to sniff it and kick them off the chair so that he can sit in it!

Harley also loves water.  He'll sit next to the sink nicely if he wants some!  He also knows how to sit on command.  What a good boy!

Who could possibly say no to this face?!

He is pooped after playing with Willie!  Time for some grub (but I can't leave my toys behind - they need to be next to me, too!).

Hey, Harley Friends!

Harley went to his very first Meet & Greet yesterday - and he had a BLAST! Not only did he get to meet tons of new people, but he saw his brother, Shadow, for the first time in nearly 2 months! They looked so happy to be together - and Shadow insisted on hopping in the shopping cart with Harley! Here are some pictures from the Meet and Greet - enjoy his newest pictures!

Hi Harley friends! Just a quick update on the adventures of Harley in the past week:

  1. Harley has been meeting new dogs! He is such a social little creature - he wants to meet all the neighbors, lick all the visitors' faces (maybe a little too much for other people's likings!), see all the dogs passing by, and explore EVERYTHING. It's so great to see him growing (very quickly, still!), and having a ball while doing it!
  2. Harley is doing great with potty training - every once in a while, he will have an accident in the house, but almost always tells us when he needs to go by sitting near the door and whining, or whining while in his crate during the night so that I know to let him go outside before he goes inside the house. I try to keep my day-to-day schedule very consistent so that he has a routine - this helps a lot.
  3. Harley is also growing fast - and so are his teeth! He loves to chew chew chew. Luckily, he chews on his toys, and not on furniture. If he tries to gnaw and bite on my hands or legs, he respects a firm "no bite" and if there is another toy in the area, he will use that instead. So the good news - at least he is chewing on toys, and not valuables and furniture!

That's about it since last week - he really is such a great boy, and I love it when he comes to snuggle. Whenever he plays fetch, he gets the ball, and then sits in my lap with it when he comes back. When he is really tired, he loves to lay next to me or on my lap when we're on the couch in the evening, and he literally just melts into your lap. I don't let him sleep in our bed, but he has laid up there for about 30-45 minutes in the morning and within 5 minutes of settling in, he's right there sleeping too, snoring and all! He is going to grow into a fantastic dog - he already is a fantastic puppy. Contact your Placement Adviser if you are interested in learning more about Harley!

Oh! Here is his latest picture while we were playing fetch in the backyard - he is pretty speedy!

Hi Harley fans! Just a quick update for the week - he is growing so quickly! And even though he is growing up, he still is the cuddliest little guy ever. Other pieces of good news: Harley has mastered the art of potty training! He knows the words "outside" and "go potty," and will go to the front door and linger when he needs to go. He also knows the word "sit," "come here," and "leave it." (This is so he leaves my cats alone!) Not only is he well behaved, he also loves to play fetch! He fetches the ball, brings it back, and is learning to drop and sit. What a great little guy! Here is the latest picture of him while FM was making breakfast. Mmm mmm mmm! Until next time!

Hey everyone! Here are even more updated photos (taken 10/29) - enjoy! Harley is a true sweetheart. He is great with people - his tail wags so fast when he sees his humans! He is such a gentle puppy in the morning, too - I took him out of his crate this morning, and he got into bed with me and snuggled (I put a picture of this on here - your heart can't help but melt when you see it!). He is getting much better with house training, and can go up to 5 hours now without having an accident in the house (FM is away from home 5 hours a day). Harley still needs reminders of what is acceptable and what is not, and just needs a little consistency and training, and he will be an absolutely delightful dog! He loves playing with my resident cat, and is learning how to "leave it" when I can tell that the cat doesn't want to play.

Please contact your placement adviser if you would like to meet Harley!

Harley is growing like a weed and has completed his neuter without any problems. Harley weighed in at a whopping 16 lbs for his procedure. As you can see, he has no problem in the food category. Harley is not as vocal as his brother Auggie, so he uses his size to push his brothers around. Harley is also more of the player of the group and is always looking for someone to play with. He and his brother Remmy play a lot of "tag you're it" all over the yard and under the bushes. Harley does a great job sitting for treats too, but can be a little rough and grabby with his mouth if his brothers are there and he doesn't want them to get his treat. He does much better if there is no competition for the treats.

Harley is ready to find his forever home and is all healed from his neuter. Enjoy the new pics.

Harley is now 8 weeks old and beginning to show his personality. He is one of the four puppies I am fostering that has the most interest in bonding with a human. He has shown great problem solving to get to his human by crawling up the puppy pen's metal wall and escaping over the wall to find his human. This morning, he came right into the bedroom and put is little paws on the bed, stretching to get up and get some hugs and cuddling. So he was the first of four to get some morning loving.

Harley as well as his brothers are mastering potty training, and even though they still have accidents overnight, they are learning where to do their business with the other dogs in my house. Harley again like his brothers has a great appetite and are fed in the am, lunch, and pm. They get treats (handful of dog food) when they come when called from outside.

Playtime can sound a little rough and rowdy when they get rough with each other, but they are learning what the limits are between siblings if they nip too hard.

All the puppies are sleeping through the night, usually from 10:30 pm to 6:30am. Then they are busting their britches to get outside and get breakfast. All the puppies have been scheduled for their neuter date and will be available for adoption after recovering.

All Miss Scooby's puppies are growing like weeds! They are eating hard food and lapping water from a dish -- and are pooping and peeing machines! They will go for their first shots at the end of this week and then will be leaving their super-awesome momma. Though they won't be with Scooby, they will still be with at least one other littermate for the next few weeks to continue to socialize and learn the rules of dog-dog interaction.

Harley and his sibs get to spend some time hanging out in the bathtub while their pen gets cleaned every day! No one really likes it all that much, but FM can only take a limited amount of eau de puppy before it is time for a bath!
