Hawkeye 06-166

Profile

4/14/06: This is Hawkeye (but he prefers Teddy because he is fuzzy like a teddy bear and is responding very well to that name). He arrived safely on Friday 4-14. He was a busy guy but seemed to make himself at home quickly. He and Champ (my Golden) seemed to get along well. Champ is good at sharing his dish and toys but Teddy doesn?t seem to know how to play just yet. Teddy is not housetrained, likes to counter surf, and barks sometimes. He had a bath right away with which he did quite well and he loved being toweled down. He also liked dragging the towel off across the lawn in his mouth! We brushed him to remove some of the winter coat. He has a lot of hair but will probably shed that out soon. He is extremely sweet and learns quickly. He is learning some commands quickly, such as ?Teddy, come?, ?no?, ?stay?, and ?down?. He doesn?t know to lie down yet or heel, but he doesn?t seem to be a jumper and it won?t take long for him to learn more commands. What?s so cute about Teddy is that when he?s happy, it?s not just his tail that wags, rather his whole butt wiggles! He is crated at night because he is not housetrained. He doesn?t like the crate so much and he barked 3 or 4 different times during the night. I?m sure he?s just nervous about a new environment and perhaps missing his buddy, Radar.

Teddy had a very busy weekend and went with the flow very well. He spent some of Saturday with Champ and me in the car heading to Wisconsin for Easter. He was afraid to get in the car at first but then jumped right in, once he’d been in that vehicle already and knew he was not going some place that may harm him. He also met some of the neighbors, their kids, and even their Golden. He is not at all aggressive, just curious.
