This dog came into RAGOM from a commercial breeder and has not been adequately socialized to humans. RAGOM requires that any adoptive homes contain a physical fence (due to the risk of escape); another fairly confident medium to large sized dog to role model from (everything is new and scary for them); no children under 10 years old in the home (normal kid behavior scares these dogs). Our goal is to find the forever family for these dogs and our experience leads us to use these criteria.

Hi I would like to introduce myself:

Heidi is my name and I came into this world for the sole purpose of providing puppies for a commercial breeder. I have lived 2 years of my life with lots of dogs but no human contact. I am to say the least absolutely horrified of these huge creatures. I have never been hugged or touched or fed treats or taken for a walk or slept in a bed. I have seen nothing more than a cage or run to go out to the bathroom. I fear EVERYTHING!!

For me I am afraid of YOU (that’s my foster mom) the house and EVERY noise it makes and every move you make and the T.V wow what is that. I have arrived in outer space. Except for TWO things Moose and Nellie my best buddies in the world and I follow them everywhere. Sometimes I am afraid to do some of the things they do (like loving up their mom) but I watch….I want to (but I can’t do it yet). I know nothing on how to be a dog so I will just follow and watch what they do. I think I really love them all already but not positive.

I have to say I love love love my food – I get it every day from a kind hand and a loving voice. Such a world out here that I just never knew existed…….so I am now on this new journey to find out what love is. So far I think I like it but am still very scared and very panicked. But I love that Moose. He is really big and he loves to play with me. I just wanted to introduce myself to the world –say hi and hope that someone out there some day could give me a home of my own when I am ready with the love that I deserve ….food too!!! OK but for now I will continue to update you on my progress and hope that you watch me grow into an amazing dog. If you could I would love someone to sponsor me!! Or someone to help all of the beautiful dogs that came to this new place on earth a week ago today and we ALL need your help in so many ways!! So thanks for keeping your eyes on me and keep me in your prayers because I need them to settle down and believe in this big scary world.

Hi- Foster Mom here :-}

Heidi came last Sunday morning to my house!! In a crate of which she knew well but all the activities and people where a bit much. RAGOM did it again SAVED a lot of dogs!! Thanks for that.

Heidi came to me shaking and shivering and so afraid to even move a muscle. It took a few days for her to eat or have any bodily functions work. We are going at a snail’s pace to give her time to just take everything in. When she came out of the kennel for the first time…….thanks to that Moose she just walked by his side out in the garage. She has learned to pee and poop in the garage (a few accidents in the house) but everything she does is always in FLIGHT mode ready to run at a moment’s notice. Heidi needed to get to the vet right away and of course that was scary – she had an ear infection with mites. She had a fever of over 104 along with mastitis (infection of the tits) from having puppies. She only weighed in at 39 pounds…she is just a little peanut. It took us days to get her to eat to get the pills in her but she is now eating like a champion. Her anxiety is so bad that the Doctor had to sedate her to examine her at all.

When you pull on the leash there is this strange behavior that goes on like jumping and bucking and alligator twirling to get away. We have not even gone outdoors yet!! But that is OK!! Today I got to rub her chest and touch her a bit (short lived cuz she wants to run). She will do her drive by’s where she runs past or stops for a second to smels and takes off. Baby steps.

One week later and here is list of leaps and bounds:

  • In the living room for longer than a second
  • Sleeps next to Moose
  • Plays with Moose
  • Played with a ball
  • Eats sleeps and Poops
  • Starting to follow me around
  • Comes into the bedroom
  • Poops in the garage and pees
  • Eats her kibble and canned food
  • Looks at me
  • Lets me touch her for a second
  • Sleeps through the night
  • Stopped shaking constantly

Yep we have those wonderful baby steps!! Well enough for now …please help Heidi any way you can and RAGOM for this HUGE rescue of all these adorable sweet babies that do not even know how wonderful it is going to be from here on out for them!!!!!!!!!! Yah

Updates

Saturday, June 23, 2012

Hi EVERYBODY!! My FM is sleeping on the job so I will send you an update!!!

First of all my FM went away for a few days on vacation and I stayed home with my new BF'sF, but did not like it!!! I missed her! I was nervous for just a bit and then snuggled in to the new guest staying with us. We had some really big storms too!! But I do just fine; I cannot say that about the rest of the gang. Moose seems a bit large to be a scaredy cat!

Anyway I am doing so good I love it here and love Moose and Nellie!! I go for walks every day and twirl around and bark (really the only time I bark too). I just love to walk with everyone!! I walk really well too :-}.

I play and run around with complete and utter joy and am a busy girl (finally get to act my age). But when the house is settled in I am too!! I just follow everyone's lead.

I am a precious 2 year old girl who wants nothing more than to LOVE you; and am still waiting for my perfect forever home!! You can call my FM loves to talk about me!!

Oh I want to tell you that I can run at lightning speed; slip and slid on my face through the wet grass and get up without missing a beat!! FM laughed so hard she spilled her coffee and I was all wet.

I also live on a golf course where these people come and go constantly!! I am curious so I run up to the fence to watch (precious), they hit this little white ball (I would like to get my hands on it) and then they go away and another round comes!! If they pay any attention to me I just walk back to FM for protection!! It is a very interesting People thing!! What is all the fuss about, really just give me the ball, I can show you what to do with it.

Hugs Little Miss Heidi HO!!

Hi there everyone Foster Mom (FM) here with a quick update on Heidi;

Let me begin with what a LOVE she has become (well she always was); and may I also say SHE IS READY FOR HER FOREVER FAMILY!!! She is really ready to go to her forever home now. Moose and Nellie are going to be so lonesome without her, however she is ready to take the plunge. Who is out there that would love to give this little girl (who has started her life in terrible times with no human contact and really no trust of humans) to a lovely adoring sweet girl who is SO much cuter than her pictures even show. She is small with amazing eyes that look at you with longing to make you happy!! She has a prance when she walks and she runs like the wind, ohhh the cutest BUTT ever!!

She goes crazy for walks!! You go get the leash and see her twirl in circles and bark and whine and dance around; so precious. She has all her trust in you when walking hoping you will show her that the outside world is not so scary!!! She will look up at you during the walk with her cute little pink tongue hanging out, cupped ears and her tail high in the air and wagging. Speaking of wagging her tail, that is all she does these days it is so awesome from the scared little girl with the tail tucked up under her belly in fear.

She has learned to snuggle with me, but not too close just close enough to touch you with a paw………..she is still cautious and can be frightened easily. But given time this sweet baby girl will be giving you everything you could ever want. Heidi is smart as a whip and I think that with some training she will pick up the signals in a heartbeat.

So remember that she has a criteria of no children under 10, must have a physical fence and another dog or two to continue to show her the way in order to adopt her. There will be a transition period for her that will require patience, but in less than 30 days she should be putty in your hands.

You know as her FM I want to tell you she is just so perfect, she knows our routine each morning and evening and just rolls with it!! She and Moose and Nellie play often and both of them love her to pieces. My Moose is one of the best mentors ever and she and Nellie came from the same mold with no socialization so they really get each other. Heidi will walk up to Nellie and put her paw on her head, Nellie will look up at her and give her kisses or vice versa, it is truly so wonderful to see (also has been good for Nellie).

So I am ready to start scouting out families, if you want a sweet pumpkin PIE – she is your girl……….and if you are reading this right now maybe you are thinking about it!!! Go ahead give me a call I can answer all your questions about her. She is really ready for FOREVER!!! FM will cry :-{ because I am in tears just thinking about having to say goodbye), but as a good FM this is all part of the plan. When Heidi tells me this is the right family(because she will) – I swear to you (not really) but you will be the luckiest family ever!!

Hugs and Licks and twirls in circles from Heidi!

Hi there………….. Heidi here and I want to give you my progress update.

I have been a very busy girl lately going on road trips to visit my friends in New Ulm, and this past weekend I got to meet two other RAGOM girls that I used to live with that was really fun. I ride in the car like a perfect angel; however I am still a bit afraid of getting in and out of the car. FM just picks me up and puts me in the car and I just learned to jump out with my buddies Moose and Nellie.

Willow, Heidi and Piper
(they are all from the commercial breeder)

Moose could eat her face;
however he loves to play with Heidi

The gang all hunkered in together

I have a long day with FM going to work in my kennel, but no accidents after a 9 hour day. I have chewed up my padding a little, but FM does not say too much about it. Every morning I get up with the gang and do my business outside and come in running back to the kennel because I know breakfast will come. I really love to eat my food. I run around the back yard like a crazy girl chasing the dogs around. I get the zoomies and fly around the yard at warp speed. I play and play until FM says it is time to return to my kennel :-{ Moose lies down on the floor next to me. I know where to snuggle in and she gives me a kong with peanut butter and a few chew bones to keep me busy.

Yep I have found the couch!!! So comfy

Monday night I went outside the yard with FM, Moose and Nellie on my very first walk!!!. I was nervous but walked around the block fairly well with my buddies. Cars and people oh my………. I was glad to get back in the house to my safety zone. Some of the neighbors watched me walk up and down the street, they were watching FM trying to manage 3 dogs I guess it was kinda funny. FM just tells everyone to stay back and let us walk.

Moose trying to play with Heidi and Piper

I will come up for treats and take them gently from your hand and last night I had some apple and banana (apple good the banana I spit out).

I am growing stronger and more courageous every day. I love my new life and really love my family, however I need a forever family that wants to love me…………………is it you?

If you want to have a small petite little girl with a precious face (if I can say so myself) that wants nothing more than to love you and play and give you love in return then I am your girl. Please let RAGOM know if you are interested in being my forever family…. Hugs and licks from Heidi HO HO!!

HI there everyone!! Just wanted to send a quick note while mom is busy!! You know what the COUCH is awesome- not really sure where mom will sit but the three of us love it. I have the puppy zoomies outside now and run with glee around and around and up over the deck with absolute JOY!!! Moose he tries to keep up but there is no way.............I am speedy.

Also am sending a note to show you pics of me and a strange man!!! He stopped by to visit and of course I was nervous about him, however he slowly skooted his way over to me and I let him touch me and pet me. I was keeping my distance and yet wanted so bad to be next to him. After about a 1/2 hour he started to move away from me to give me some space and I skooted my way back over to him. (FM says it was fabulous work on my part). Oh boy I have to tell you what a great life it is now. I just am blessed to have this safe place to be- and play- and chew toys- and have all these people that love me!!! Lucky girl.

Best thing I am NOT afraid of storms either.....Moose and Nellie are fraidy cats :-} I did not make a peep the other night during the big loud thunder and lightning storm.

Enjoy my pics - gotta run MOM is coming!!

Well now it is foster mom's turn - WOW has she made some great and courageous changes. Heidi is starting to feel at HOME and must know where I am at all times (typical golden). She has had NO accidents in the house for two weeks Yah! She goes in and outside with no issues at all. She is so playful and loves her friends Moose and Nellie. Even my sweet Nellie loves to play with her. She is taking treats from my hand and LOVES her food!! Runs to her kennel to eat on her own. Foster mom has gotten KISSES!!! Oh I just melted when I got my first one. Now we get them often and Nellie gives Heidi kisses too!! So precious. She has riden in the car many times very well. Getting in and out of the car is still scary but will let me pick her up and place her in the car. She will get the zoomies in the yard and run like crazy.................she could be a girl that would be so great at agility training she has SPRINGS for back legs. She is joyful now more than fearful.

I have had multiple guests over and she does really well. She is standoffish at first but will do drivebys to see if they are OK. She is always coming to me as soon as I get to the floor!!! Heidi has found the couch and jumps up there on her own. She sleeps each night in her kennel and is very good all night until I get up. She has adapted to our routine and is so excited when I get home from work. When you love her up she gets those sweet little cupped ears that tell me she is very happy.

Well Hello there everyone!!! Heidi here with my last week's update - HUGE updates!

  1. Went for a car ride with Moose and Nellie and did just beautifully. The ride to New Ulm was 2 hours and on the way there I was in the kennel and did great.........but on the way home I got to be with Moose and Nellie in the back of my FM's new SUV and it was so fun and I was not scared and I rode very nicely if I say so myself.
  2. Got to New Ulm and met a new person and 5 new dogs, I was a little leery but did just fine. Of course I love other dogs - it's the people I am not so sure about.
  3. Let new people pet me :-} Love me :-] touch me and I even went to them for some tummy rubs. It was very fun for me, plus all the other dogs were in there getting kisses and hugs.
  4. Took treats from some new person's hands - Yah and they were super duper good stuff.
  5. Found out that dog beds are a DYNOMITE item to sleep on. Slept on one OUT of my kennel all night long and was a very good girl.

  6. I got spayed on Friday morning :-[ Not really very fun at all. My tummy hurts now!! But the vet said it went great and I did very well. Boy oh boy was I glad to hear my FM's voice and there was Moose waiting for me too!!!
  7. FM was able to pick me up!!! I let her pick me right up and was not scared (well maybe a tish), but my FM she is pretty great stuff!!
  8. Went in and out of the house with all the dogs through the patio door...............FM did not have to help me at all. I also went up and down stairs too!!!! WHOOT WHOOT
  9. I had one dog growl at me and I listened to them right away!!! (who could growl at me anyway) crabby ol lady.
  10. I was very glad to be back home where It was familiar. So other than surgery I had a super fun filled weekend with lots and lots of new stuff.

Soon FM says that I could go be with a new family - Anybody out there? Please pick me pick me pick me!!! I wanna love you up. Enjoy the picture of me and the one with another PM momma too.

Love you all - hugs and kisses from your sweet Heidi girl

Thank you again to my AMAZING ANONYMOUS SPONSOR! I am growing and blooming because of your help. Hugs from Heidi

Heidi here!!! Wow such a big week for me! I have grown and blossomed more and more everyday…you will see that in my photos.

This week I have gone outside again and I love it this time – I am going out to do my business (FM is very happy about this). I follow my buddies around the yard and I play out there. Very different from my first experience outside I was very afraid, but now enjoy my time out there. I still can get spooked very easily and I like to see foster mom at all times. I come to the garage door but am still very leery of walking through the doorway, but FM just takes my leashes and I follow her right in. It makes me feel much safer having her help. Then I bolt in the house ….jump into my kennel in the kitchen, and wait for everyone to walk in and then I come out and go into the living room with everyone.

I spend most of my time following Moose everywhere and I get so excited to see him. Nellie and I lay together and she is my safe friend as well but Moose plays with me all the time. I just love him to pieces.

I am eating like a champion and taking treats from Mom's hands. I love when she eats - there is always a treat involved when she eats and it smells so good.

I found the toy basket and I go get a toy and play with it – I love to chew on the tennis balls and I will go back and forth to the toy basket until it is almost empty. I gather them all together you will see my picture. I do love to chew on the bones that are in there – I have never had any fun things in my life and I am happy to have them now.

Me and my toys

I will let foster mom love me up I really love the tummy rubs and chest scratching. I have never been touched so I am still a bit leery of it all but it really feels so GREAT. Nellie and Moose all come for loving when FM sits on the floor and I come a running and sit next to foster mom and lift my leg which is my signal that I want to have some too.

Putting her leg up on my arm for some lovies

I am so happy now but FM takes no chances and I still have two collars on and a lead on me at all times and I am really used to having them on and it no bother at all.

My life has changed in so many ways and I feel like a very lucky girl. Is there anyone out there that thinks I may be a fit in their home forever??? I may not be ready quite yet, unless you have had experience with puppy mill dogs before ….but soon I will need a family that can show me all the love that I deserve and will give you back love forever and ever.

Friday, April 6, 2012

Thank you over and over again to my AMAZING ANONYMOUS SPONSOR. Without people like you where would I be? I do not have the answer but my foster mom said I am one VERY lucky girl to have a sponsor!!! Whoever it is that gave to my wellbeing I am FOREVER grateful….thanks again! Maybe someday I will be able to give you golden kisses!!

Heidi here!!!

I have so much to tell you…this has been a very big week for me……….. wait untill you see all my pictures. This week has been much calmer for me, oh I am still very scared and nervous but I am feeling like such a big girl who I think may have just hit the jackpot in life. I am not sure yet but things are pretty nice around this house. Compared to where I used to live which was about a 4 X 5 box for all of my 2 years, I was not used to toys or playing with my brother and sister and really good food.

OHHHHH I must tell you I found a hand…..yep a hand and do you know it can rub your tummy and scratch your chest OMG it is fantastic and sometimes it feels so fantastic I just melt right into the floor. I am still on high alert at all times and ready to run for my life, I love it best when Foster mom gets down on the floor with me and gives me some lovies…I even raised my leg up to make sure she got my chest really good, raising my leg up in Golden style.

I still run to my safe place (my kennel) just in case and feel very safe there, but I am starting to spend a lot more time out of my kennel than in it. Oh I forgot to tell you that I went outside with Moose and Nellie, what a trip that was – grass, that green stuff, is soft on my toes. I ate a little too but only because I was watching Nellie do it. Spit it out cuz I am not sure what she sees in doing that. Tonight I went outside to pee and poop just like the other dogs.

I took some bits of ham from my foster mom’s hands it was really yummy and I went back for more 5 bites. Foster mom got all teary eyed and so excited (I am not sure why).

I have a brand new collar that will help to keep me safe and sound so I cannot squirm away and run off, it matches my coat and it feels really comfy. Mom was able to put it on me and I was not too afraid. I like everything in slow motion then I am not so quick to run. I hear my foster mom talking about all these new things that I do every day (not sure what the big deal is) but it makes her really happy so I am happy too.

Well enjoy the pictures of the blossoming of my new life – and remember I will need a forever home someday, so keep me in mind I will bless you two fold I promise.
