Who is the sweetest, newest RAGOM boy?? Henri is! Henri came to RAGOM when his family had to move out of state. He was obviously very loved because he LOVES his people! Henri is about 6 years old and was originally adopted by his surrendering family two years ago from a local humane society. We don't know much about his life before that but he certainly had some good experiences to have become so sweet now :)

Henri's family reported that he had previously barked at people that came to the door and once tore the pant leg of a maintenance guy. Here he has welcomed my dog walkers whom he had never met and also a friend who came down for the weekend. He did bark at the teenage neighbor boy when he came to the fence. We will do proper introductions to the boy later. We hope to learn more about this as time goes by.

Henri was also reported to have such a strong drive to be with his people that he would whine, jump out an open car window and be destructive when left alone. He does fine when left home with another dog. That must be true because Henri has done fine here with our residents when left alone. He does make an issue of your leaving by whining and barking but it quickly subsides. We have been working on CALM comings and goings so that he knows there is no need for excited behavior. He does not get any petting until he is quiet, calm and sitting. This has been EASY for Henri to figure out. He is definitely a velcro dog.

He does great with the other dogs here although he is just starting to look like he wants to play with them. Henri knows the 'sit' command and offers it easily. He also comes when called. We have a fenced in yard so not sure yet if he would run off without one. It doesn't seem likely since he so wants to be with his people. He may wander to explore as he loves to do that here. Henri appears healthy except for some allergy symptoms. He is currently eating a grain free food so we are hoping that helps clear up his itchy, red ears and goopy eyes. He will go to the vet next week for a wellness exam and we will talk to the vet about this.

If you love the velcro Golden's who just want to be loved and also have another resident dog, check out this sweet boy! You will fall in love as we have.

Henri LOVES the snow! He zooms around, digs in it, and rolls in it. It is so fun to see such a happy boy! I couldn't get a good picture of him with the snow zoomies but enjoy these.

Henri was a hit at the meet and greet this past Saturday! Apparently, his 'beard' picture is quite the identifier :) You knew he would LOVE all of the hands reaching out to pet him and if someone was nearby and NOT paying attention--he went up and introduced himself with the usual Golden 'hand nudge'. Henri just loves people--all ages and sizes.

Yes, he does need another dog in the home. We can only trust what the surrendering owner learned. That he is destructive when left alone and without another dog. He has not been destructive here with my dogs as company. Henri is fine with comings and goings that are part of the routine work day. He is more anxious when I leave again after coming home from work. Then he will bark for about one minute--I stayed and listened every time. He is quick to settle down. I don't think he would do well in an apartment or condo living since he might disturb people with that barking--even though it doesn't last long.

This sweet boy has every reason to worry about being left by his people given the history. He is looking for someone that can be patient and understanding of his fears. Someone who will make the commitment to keep him for the rest of his life. Is that someone you?

Henri is wondering why no one is asking about him....

Could it be the drive to New Ulm? It is a beautiful drive along the river - less than two hours from the Twin Cities. Henri is so totally worth the drive!

Henri is a joyful boy! He is just very happy. He bounds around the yard after the dogs and the birds and whatever catches his fancy. Henri went to the vet this last week and aside from a small ear infection in both ears, he is very healthy. The vet thinks he might be 8 instead of 6 but he sure doesn't show his age!

Henri is really fine when I leave. Of course, he would prefer to come along! And shows that by vocalizing for a few seconds after the door closes. He settles down quickly. Like most Golden's he follows me almost everywhere. He is just a velcro boy! If that doesn't appeal to you, then Henri--and many other Golden's--isn't your guy. He sleeps on the bed but waits politely to be invited :) If it is too crowded on the bed, he gets off.

He also alerts when someone comes to the door--just as my other dogs do. He hasn't shown any desire to go after any one that visits. Henri quickly settles down when asked too. He figured out on Halloween that there was no need to bark EVERY time the doorbell rang.

So if you like the snuggly boys and have another dog, Henri might be the one for you. They don't come any sweeter than this boy. I can assure you he is worth meeting in person!
