Henry is an extraordinary dog who came to RAGOM from the streets of Bursa, Turkey. He has seen and experienced so much in his 4 years. First and foremost he is a loving, happy boy who always has a tail wag and smile. He just lights up a room and exudes so much joy to both people and animals alike.
At some point while living in Turkey, Henry’s leg was broken and did not receive medical care until after it healed on its own.
He survived on the streets for an unknown amount of time and then finally found love and care with our rescue partner in Turkey.
After experiencing comfort, consistent food, and loving hands, he then traveled to a new country, a new language, a new home.
Even with all the challenges and changes in his short life, he continues to be a Golden through and through… loving, playful, a gentle and kind companion.
We are so thankful that RAGOM brought this boy over and grateful that we were able to be part of his journey and introduction to America. And the best part of all is seeing that instant connection between Henry and Ginny. In that moment our hearts knew that Henry had found his forever mom.
Ginny and Henry, we wish you nothing but the best as you begin your life together. We look forward to hearing of your amazing adventures and joy that you will share with your kitty sister Stella.
With many hugs, love, and best wishes,
Foster Dad Peter, Foster Mom Sheila, Harley, Jaxon 18-250A, and from the Rainbow Bridge, Tallulah Mae and Buttons

Handsome Henry is what they call me. I think that name suits me very well! I come from the streets of Bursa, Turkey where I was found with a broken front leg. I was taken to a shelter, but unfortunately they were unable to do anything as my leg had already healed. I do walk with a bit of a limp, but that does not stop me from running, playing, and retrieving my favorite thing—balls, balls, and more balls!
My command of the English language is getting better each day, along with hand signals. Sometimes I think that my name is Henry Leave It, as I learn what is mine and what is not, like papers on the coffee table, the remote control, and toilet paper.
I have already mastered going potty outside consistently and am getting better at walking on a leash with a harness. I love going for car rides, especially when we go to foster Grandma and Grandpa’s or Chuck & Don’s. By the way, did you know that you get treats and lots of pets when you go there? It is one of my favorite places!
I really like going to Stone Mountain and having a spa day! Kristi always gives me treats for being such a good boy, and I look even more handsome when Foster Mom picks me up.
I am a very happy boy who loves to be with people and gets along well with other dogs.
I can and do live with a kitty named Harley. Sometimes I even provide entertainment for him!
I loved my foster sissy Tallulah Mae and she loved me. We became very close, sleeping and being by one another throughout the day. We even played a little bit of toy tuggy together. My foster parents and RAGOM thought it would be good that I stay with her and my foster family a little while longer while she fought her losing battle with degenerative myelopathy.
I am happy that I could be with her in her final months and help her be happy. So, please do not think because I have been in America for three months and have not been on the RAGOM website that there is anything wrong with me. I am sure that you understand, family comes first!
From Henry’s Foster Mom:
Henry is an awesome boy, who is just happy-go-lucky. He always greets you at the door with a smile and waggy tail. Henry loves to play fetch and play with toys. He is a very accepting boy who thinks that everyone (two and four legged) is his friend.
Henry can be on the obsessive side when it comes to what he wants or is fascinated with, like squirrels, stuffies that get put away, or balls that roll under something. It is a quirky part of his personality. Henry has shown no resource guarding with food or toys.
He loves food and treats, but needs to stay on the thinner side due to his front leg. He has learned to like green beans as part of his diet. He also gets Cosequin DS plus MSM and fish or coconut oil as part of his daily meals.
Henry still takes some things that are not his on occasion, but that has been confined to paper products like dropped napkins. His recall is good, but he should always be leashed when not in a fenced area.
He has free roam (8 hours) of the house when he is alone. Henry loves to be in the same room with you when you are home.
Henry went to visit Santa this past weekend. Can you guess what he is asking for? Are you the someone who is going to make Henry’s wish come true? (Thanks to Deb Ericsson for the great pictures!)
Henry is a delightful boy who would fit well into just about any home. One last thing, don’t forget to follow Henry’s adventures on Instagram (@handsome.henry.ragom18.162).
