Holly came to stay with us just one week ago today and what a week it has been!
Saturday afternoon I went to Andover to meet Holly and her 9 puppies! What a sight they all were running in pack-like formation all over a volunteer?s very large back yard! Holly?s pups are already 4 months old, so they are nearly as big as their Mom is. Some are red in color and some a light golden, looking very Retriever-like with the curly fur. Two were definitely Black Labs. All seemed very out going and rambunctious when all together. Holly is a medium sized Yellow Lab @ 58 lbs. and looks extremely fit for just having all these pups! We think she is about 2 years old and looks to be a purebred. She has the light blonde coloring- beautiful dog with a sweet smile- especially when she?s outside running! That brings us to Sunday?
We were all watching the Vikings whoop the Packers when I let the dogs out for a quick potty break. All but our dear Holly came in when called. I looked quickly toward the gate and dropped my jaw in disbelief when I saw it was wide open! I grabbed my coat and started the chase. Obviously, Miss Holly likes to run and play hide and seek because for the next hour that?s exactly what she and I did. She finally lost me screaming around a corner and it was too dark to see her tracks any longer. I returned home tired and worried about my new foster. I called the Police and reported her missing.
Monday Holly was found many miles away. She returned home one very tired little girl, but the exercise tightened up her tummy back to pre-puppy stage. We now lock the gate and send visiting kids to the front door!
Holly is a wonderful inside dog. She?s completely house trained and very well mannered. She has a very relaxed demeanor, which makes her very easy to have around! She gets along great with my two dogs as well as the cats! My Grandson met her and she was very gentle with him. I need to do more kid testing before she gets placed with any small children however. She was spayed in December, and we had the stitches taken out Thursday at her wellness exam with the Vet, so she has a clean bill of health! UTD on all her shots, Holly is ready anytime to move on to her forever family. She is also microchipped, so if she ever does go for another run she won?t make it as far! This dog won?t last long, so don?t hesitate if you are interested!
