Honey 07-520

Profile

Let me introduce you to Honey. We came up with Honey because she has been so sweet at home here and the 3 hrs she spent at the vet today. She was formerly known as Golden Acres Ginger II.  She was one of the many girls that came up from the puppy mill last night.

She would like to personally thank all the  people who spent two days driving down to rescue her and her buddies.  And also everybody who was there anxiously awaiting their arrival to help care and pamper them and make them feel loved the way they only dreamed about. She never knew there were so many kind humans out there who actually loved dogs for what they are and not for what they can get out of them.

Today has been a very active day for Honey.  She spent 3 hrs at the vet getting all sorts of tests done on her. She was such a patient girl, sitting very still while they poked away at her.  It turns out that she has a ear infection, 3 types of worms; whipworm, roundworm and hookworm. Thankfully no heartworm.  She also has two types of parasites which are anaplasma and erlichia.  She is extremely underweight.  She only weighs 61 lbs, and could easily put at least 10-15 lbs on. When you pet her you can feel every bone in her body. And last but least she is in heat. They think it is the beginning stages, so she has a good couple of weeks to go with that. Hopefully she got out of the PM in a nick of time.

She has adjusted very well. LOVES people, does not mind other dogs but likes to have the humans to herself. She has not charged any of our resident dogs, but she has growled a couple of times at them. She walks around with them in the yard and in the house, but as soon as one approaches me while I'm petting her she lets them know that it is her time to cuddle. She is just making up for lost time. She has not left my side since she has been at home with us and right now  she is actually laying next to my feet and licking my leg. She really is a sweetheart. She will make a wonderful addition to any family who is looking for a beautiful golden to cuddle with.
