Hooper 06-129

Profile

4/7/06: Say hi to this wonderful, roly-poly bundle of love. He comes from a loving family who are heartbroken to give him up. Their financial hardships were preventing Hooper from getting the care he needed and their love for him means he has to find another family.

This warm-hearted purebred Golden loves everyone. This love bug could get along with a nasty grizzly bear! He's seven years young, has grown up with other pets and children. Families with children of any age are encouraged to apply. I think Hooper would die of loneliness without the life and noise of a family around him. Everything wiggles and bounces when he sees you, whether you come home and see him or he just wakes from a nap! All he needs is a tennis ball and a willing partner. He loves kids, swimming, riding in the car, and running errands.

Hooper has some medical needs that are being addressed right now, but he will be available as soon as possible. Better get your request in right away. The line forms to the right. This sweet butterball will go fast.

When Hooper came to RAGOM his ears were diagnosed with a yeast infection and 2 bacterial infections. One ear was filled with black goo. It's a month later and his ears are shiny and clean. Between the daily cleaning, the ear drops and the 20 antibiotic pills per day, he's almost fully recovered from the creeping grunge. His doctor is very pleased with his progress. Good job, Doc!

Hooper got tired of waiting for me to let him back in the house a few days ago. I think he was hot and thirsty and really wanted to get in off the hot deck. He noticed a small hole in the screen door (from a very pushy visiting cat) and decided that would make a good place to create his own "doggie door." Now he can just plow right through without needing me to open the door.

Our little Roly-Poly is now down to 100 pounds. 10 down, 25 to go. He's amazingly good humored about his diet. There's no counter surfing, no eating through the food bags and he never battles over food with the others at meal time. He doesn't even chew up the woobies in the house. The woobies appreciate that, too.

Hooper gets along well with everyone. Even my old grumpy cat tolerates him, but does try avoid Big Hooper. Imagine looking up and seeing that big fuzzy back end coming down on top of you. I'm not sure I'd ever find my cat if Hooper sat on him!

Hooper's only got a little more than 2 weeks left on his heartworm quarantine. Then this fuzzy little baby buffalo will be available to some great family. Now's the time to put in your application and get your home visit scheduled, so you're ready to go when Hooper's available.

My poor little Hooper was diagnosed with heartworms and got his injections a couple weeks ago. He has to spend 40 days in "quarantine", unable to run and play with the other kids. He is doing well in his quarantine, but is sure looking forward to joining a family. He wants so much to play catch with his tennis ball, but just can't be allowed to run.

He came to us at 110 pounds and is now down to 105 pounds. His target weight is 70-75 pounds. Imagine how much weight he will be able to lose once he can exercise. No more Mr. Butterball. For now, I use a small crane to lift him into the car.

Little Huff 'n Puff is so cute with his curly fur, his Golden smile and his happy disposition. All he needs to be content is someone to throw his tennis ball for him. No need for expensive woobies, fancy squeaky toys or treat-filled rubber chew toys. Just some old ratty tennis ball makes him bounce with glee.

Mr. Butterball

Please play catch with me.

Will you play with me?
