9/10/05: Hope is here and she is beautiful, young with a gentle temperament, and everybody?s dream dog! (I guess I should have showed her where the water bowl was since her tongue is hanging out about six inches in all the pictures.) Hope is a 1-year old female who previously lived with a family that had four children ages 3 through 10. We don?t know how she is with cats, but I think she could easily be trained to be ok with them. She already knows a few commands, met the other four dogs here with no problems, very people friendly and dog friendly. The family reported that she had chronic giardia (a parasitic protozoan) and while she originally was trained to be an indoor housepet, she was put outside because of her diarrhea issues and subsequently surrendered to RAGOM. Hope has been at a vet clinic for the past few days, had her spay surgery and they have been watching her to see if she had any signs of a problem. So far, so good. She is on medication for the giardia for a few more days and then we will have a fecal tested to see if there is anything unusual. She?s only been here a few hours, but was nice enough to produce a small sample and so far all appears to be normal. As soon as we have the ?all looks good? from the vet next week, she will be ready to move to a very lucky adoptive home. She?s an absolute doll. While it often takes me 15 minutes to fall in love with a foster dog, this one took about 15 seconds. Don?t miss out!
