Hotch is a male, 4-to-5-month-old, 31-pound Retriever, 1/2 Golden Retriever and 1/2 Chocolate Labrador Retriever. While Hotch's personality is all Golden, he has the Chocolate Lab green eyes with pale pink around the edges as well as his nose and lips, which adds to his cuteness and unique look. He has a long, whip-like tail which the fur appears braided. He is starting to get his white feathers in his hind, has extra long floppy ears and he will grow into his big paws. The vet predicted he will be 60-70 lbs as an adult.
Hotch loves all living things. He is great with kids, other dogs, and cats. He loves to sleep with our dogs on on our bed with us. We do not crate him as he does respect the baby gate. When he came here 2 weeks ago, he was 80% paper trained. He would walk to the door and pee on the paper really well. But he had no clue on poop and would poop wherever he happened to be, like a toddler not wanting to stop having fun to stop and poop. We have been working with him now that he knows us and our routine. He now has over 3 days straight with 100% outside. He will wake me up to let him out now, which sure beats cleaning up first thing in the morning.
He is still at a very impressionable age, so with patience, training and socialization, he will continue to be the perfect family dog. He needs some leash work, that would be the next thing. He rides well in the car.
He would prefer a fenced yard; if not, will need an outlet for his puppy energy, such as daily walks and/or trips to the dog park or doggy daycare. I would love to see this pup have a kid to grow up with. He plays well with my 9-year-old grandson and 2-year-old granddaughter. He loves to wrestle and has a soft mouth. He loves to lick their faces and to sleep with them and keep their feet warm.
Hotch is not neutered as of now and has some booster shots to complete at appointment on 4/15, so he could be adopted soon after that. He is such a good boy, I will have a hard time letting him go. I hope whoever adopts this guy will drop me an email and pictures once in a while. I would love to see him as he grows.
