4/30/06: Jack is here and he is one loveable, wonderful guy. He was given to RAGOM by his family who knew that he would thrive in an environment where he would get more love and attention. It was truly an unselfish gift of love because this is one special boy.
Jack is 6-years-old and was recently shaved by his owners. Luckily they gave us pictures so you can see what a gorgeous dog he is with a full coat.
Here is what I know about Jack after only 12 hours. He is a love sponge. He would be content to sit by your side and be petted all day. He is a laid back kinda guy. He likes to walk around with a stuffed animal in his mouth and talk to you. One smack in the face from my Siamese and he takes a wide berth around both cats. He gets along great with other dogs, although I think he would appreciate being an only dog and the center of attention. He is good off-leash. His owners told me he loves to play fetch (if it would stop raining, I could check that out) and he loves to swim.
Jack has Addison?s Disease. He was misdiagnosed for the first five years of his life until he went to the wonderful vets at the U of M, who diagnosed him over a year ago. He takes two pills per day for his Addison?s and also a thyroid pill, which is inexpensive. Properly treated, as Jack is, Addison?s dogs can live a long, healthy life. He takes his pills with no fuss and this dog is definitely worth it. I have seen a lot of dogs in my life and he has one of the best temperaments ever. He would be a great therapy dog.
I could go on and on, and I have only had him for twelve hours. More after he visits the RAGOM vet for a check-up. If you want a big love-bucket, who will be a joy to have around, let RAGOM know because Jack won?t be available for long. If we didn?t have allergies at our house, I would have already adopted him.
