Jackson 05-04-03-381

Profile

5/30/05: Jackson is a two year old male, red in color and a "big boy" weighing in at about 80 lbs. He has hip problems, however currently does not appear to be having symptoms; takes glucosamine daily for joint health. Jackson has limited experience with kids, no known experience with cats and varied experiences with other dogs. When he meets another dog he gets very excited, particularly if it is a small vocal dog. Jackson is very high energy and strong. Walking can be challenging as he is very curious and wants to check out every smell, sound and critter. Periodically has periods of barking and at other times will sit quietly and watch the world go by. Jackson has a great personality, loves people and wants to be where the action is. This past year he has been well loved and well cared for. The country life would be best for this big beautiful boy.

Updates

It has been awhile since I have sent an update; really nothing new to share about this boy. Jackson has settled in quite well and seems to be enjoying his life. We spent the last two weekends in the country and he loves the freedom and the new sights and smells. He does tend to chase cats and other creatures. One country visit was to see his dog friend, Ragom rescue Mahoney, and Mahoney's new companion, another Ragom rescue who just moved to her forever family. After the initial sniffing ritual they appeared to be fast friends and the new dog followed him all over. My other foster left a few weeks ago and Jackson seemed to really miss him. Spent a few days wandering the house looking for Dickory and hanging out by his kennel. A new foster has joined us and she is not happy having to share space with another dog. She has done a lot of snapping and growling at him. He has tolerated this quite well and has managed some environmental changes that have been made to accommodate her and her needs. He does like his alone time with me and generally we spend it walking. To all of you browsing the site looking for that special pet friend, this guy may be it. Jackson is a big loveable guy; loves to get and give affection. While he needs some ongoing direction and training overall he does ok both inside and in the fenced yard. Please email placementatragom [dot] org and they will put us in touch.
