We received Jake on Saturday. He is a big boy, neutered, 3-4 years old and a sister to Scarlet. The owner was hoping they would be able to stay together. Jake is definitely the leader of the two.
Jake is medium red-gold in color and has a thick coat. He was kept outside a lot in the winter and was brought into the house when it was really cold. The owner did have have him in the house too but both dogs loved to be in the snow. He is a stockier Golden and could lose some weight. He is used to being fed with Scarlet and they could eat out of each other's bowls so it is hard to tell who got what.
Jake is used to small children and cats. I have not let him loose around my two cats yet as it seems he wants to chase them. I will work on that one this week and see what that is about. The owner told me he is not aggressive but he will act protective around children if another dog comes around.
Jake has had a small amount of obedience training. He does listen really well and I don't think it would take much to teach him anything. We took him on a walk on Saturday afternoon and he didn't like the Gentle Leader at first. After a few minutes he walked along with me and only tried an occasional "can't I get this thing off of my nose" swipe with his paw. I told him to heel and he didn't pull at all. I thought he did real well considering he was with strange people in a strange place.
Jake has a wonderful Golden personality - loves attention and is so friendly.
We will be making a trip to the vet soon and also a trip to the groomer's for a bath.
