Jake is doing so well. He is such a good boy, and has come a long way. Today is Thursday, and he has been accident-free since Friday morning! He will now come up to me, and as soon as I make eye contact and ask him if he wants to go outside, he starts wiggling and runs to the door. I think he is finally catching on!

We all went up to the cabin this past weekend, and he had great fun. He went swimming for the first time, and he really liked it. He would bark at the waves coming in and run around like a madman.

Jake has really good recall, I can let him out the door, he'll do his business, and run right back in to me (he gets big praise each time). I believe he would do fine in a un-fenced yard, but he should never be left unattended.

Jake now knows the 'sit' command, and will sit before he gets his meals. He is a quick learner, and would do great in obedience. He listens really well, and will stop and drop what he is doing, even if all you say is, "AAH!"

I believe I was a little hasty in saying he needs to go to a home with kids 10 and over. He loves my 5 year old son, and will chase him and pin him down and lick him like crazy! He no longer does his dog resource growling. I believe he can go to a home with small kids, as long as they are dog savvy. He really enjoys playing with them.

If you want to come and meet Jake, he is available - email placementatragom [dot] org!

Jake is doing great! He is down to only 1 or 2 potty accidents a day, and that's only if we miss him pacing around. I only have to say the word "crate", and he runs right in and lays down. I always make sure to give him big praise and a belly rub when he goes in.

I have been taking him to school to pick up my son from Kindergarten, and last week, all the Mom's wanted to meet him, so I opened the truck door and as they were petting him, the kids were let out of school. The kids all crowded around the truck, and Jake jumped out, laid on the grass, and was promptly surrounded by about 8 kids under the age of 6. They were all hugging, petting, and even pulling on his collar, and he just laid there and loved it.

He has been doing better with his resource growling with other dogs/cats. We are letting him up on the sofa, but if he starts to growl when they come near, he gets pushed off. I think he is getting it, because after a while, he'll slink back up and then let the other dogs/cats come near without a sound. I have been putting his food bowl right next to one of the other dogs, and they all eat in harmony. He doesn't growl when any of the dogs come near. I truly think that time when he growled/air snapped at my son, he thought it was another dog crawling on him.

He loves to play and wrestle with my dogs, particularly Lucy. She's a former RAGOM dog, who has had 2 litters of pups, so she knows how to handle the kids. She'll really rough-house with him, and show him who is boss. He just keeps coming back for more.

He is a sloppy drinker. Whenever he visits the water bowl, he'll come away dripping everywhere, and he'll have two long, slimy strings of saliva hanging from his jowls. Then he'll shake and they go everywhere!

Please let placement know if you'd like to visit and get sloppy puppy kisses!

Jake arrived at our house Saturday morning. He was pretty much comatose the whole day. We had 13 people over to celebrate my daughter's birthday, so the house was pretty full, but he would just snuggle up with someone and sleep! We would move around and try and get him to come with us, but he didn't want to get up!

By Sunday, he was showing his puppiness, running around and playing. We took him for a long walk with the rest of the dogs, and he did very well on the Gentle Leader. He will chew on inappropiate items if given the chance, so he won't be trusted with free roam while we are gone anytime soon! He does have free roam while we are at home though, and does stop when told 'No'.

He gets along well with the other dogs, but when he has something in his mouth, or if someone is petting him and another dog comes by, he will growl. We are working on nipping that in the bud! We will not allow him to get to the nip stage, so hopefully he will get over his jealousy quickly!

He will be 5 months old on 5/13/08. He will go into the vet tomorrow and get microchipped and weighed (I am guessing he is around 35 pounds). I will also find out if he is old enough to be neutered.

He can be shy, but warms up quickly. He has not had any accidents, and goes right away when we go outside. He sleeps in a crate at night, and except for the first few minutes, he is very quiet. He is a typical, playful puppy, who is learning that balls and rope toys are fun! He is not big on treats, so we'll have to find some really irresistible ones for him. He rides in the car well and just sleeps on the front seat.

Please let placementatragom [dot] org know if you would like to meet this little guy!
