11/20/06: Jakee was the first of the Boo Bears to be born. Jakee?s parents were from a puppy mill and so he is a purebred Golden Retriever. Jakee came into this world at 10:41 pm on October 24th, 2006 and will be ready for adoption on December 18th, 2006. Jakee will be four weeks on 11/22/06.

Jakee came into this world weighing 1.3 pounds. At two weeks of age he weighed 2.88 pounds and I believe he will weigh 4 pounds when we go to the vet later this week. Jakee has had his deworming and will do another dose this week. In two weeks he will get his first set of puppy shots!

Jakee is named after Jake Plummer, the Bronco?s quarterback. Jakee is a big boy that is very mellow. He is not pushy at all and will snuggle whenever you give him time. Jakee is growing by leaps and bounds. Yesterday he went to the vet and we found out he had a major case of roundworms – I hate roundworms, they are these nasty long worms that are really gross and hard on the pups' insides. So the good news is everyone, including Mom and Newfoundlands, are being treated and everyone should be on the path of better weight gain.

These are pictures of Jakee after his first bath, which he was very brave about!

Jakee weighed in at 4.81 pounds – right smack dab in the middle of everyone. He seems larger than that. I thought for sure he would be as big as Chevee (better known as Zach by his new mom). Jakee is starting to really play with the other pups and comes running when you walk into the room in the morning. He is always the first to say hi.
