~ A Mother's Day gift for my mom ~
Jameson is a PB Handsome 5 year old boy who is a pure sweetheart. He has the curly hair and a bottle brush tail. Jameson weighs 68#. He is neutered and is UTD. Jameson has had Diabetes for 2 years and requires insulin shots two times a day when he is fed. He is on Science Diet W/D. He is financially more expensive than your typical Golden but the love that he gives balances it out.
Jameson has cataracts in both eyes and is going blind. He went to see a eye Doctor to determine if his cataracts could be repaired. The doctor is not 100% sure if it is due to genetics or the diabetes. Cataracts are very common in GR. It has been decided that he is a great candidate for cataract surgery. He should regain 90% of his sight in his left eye. His right eye is in the beginning state of retinal detachment. The surgery will be scheduled in the next couple of weeks. The recovery is 4 weeks. It is an expensive surgery, however the outcome is Jameson regaining his sight! The lens that is inserted into the eye will never go bad, so the cataracts will never return.
Jameson came to us from a young family in the Twin Cities. His SO writes "Jameson is good with kids and extremely tolerant." He has been around toddlers and older kids and loves all the attention he gets, even tolerates his tail being pulled.
Jameson is very active. He LOVES to go swimming. He paddles around and tries to bite the water spout that his paw kicks up when it hits the water. He will spend an hour in the water, come out to rest than right back in for another hour. It is very comical and I will try to get a video of it. But his days in my pond are limited because once he has the surgery he is going to be very limited on his exercise. No swimming or tug of war with the other dogs. No wrestling either. He is not going to be a very happy camper during the month of recovery. He will just have to make due with walks and pets and brushing. All of which he also loves.
Jameson has been to obedience school and was also in agility training. He is very good about listening to commands. Sit - stay is awesome!! He does not have any storm anxiety or rarely barks. He will give a half bark at the back door when he wants in. He rides great in a vehicle. He loves to cuddle and will lay his head on my lap at night when we finally sit down for some relaxation. He has no fear of strangers. He leans against you for scratches. When meeting other dogs he is better off leash than on the leash. He did great meeting me two crazy boys. One a GR the other a 8# maltese mix. So big or small he loves them all!
Keep watching for more updates on this sweet baby as he goes to surgery and through the recovery. Donations to help with his expenses for surgery and recovery would be greatly welcomed.
