HERE IS THE JASPER SCOOP:
Jasper is one healthy boy! All his blood work came back excellent! YEAH! He’s up-to-date with his shots, he’s micro-chipped, and on flea/tick & HW preventative. Obviously, well cared for by a loving family!!! He weighed in at 73 lbs. which is a bit under weight for our boy---vet thinks 80lbs is probably his ideal weight. Jasper has been through a lot of recent changes in his home life and so—like us humans—dogs react to stress the same way, so once Jasper has a nice stable home life again---his weight should rebound just fine. Jasper is on a very low dose of Thyroid medication—but he is now under weight—so the vet said he should have his Thyroid rechecked in a few months. All in all—he received the “thumbs-up” from the vet and is now ready to find his forever family!!!
Jasper is the most wonderful family dog ever!!! He is sooo easy going, playful, adventurous, and down-right lovable to the core!!! Someone asked me if he was a Velcro dog—and my initial response was NO—meaning he does not hang all over you constantly--BUT he definitely wants to be where you are and will let you know when he wants some attention! He absolutely LOVES his people and is very much a lover boy.

It is my understanding that Jasper was not allowed on the furniture at his previous home—but my daughter doesn’t follow such rules and so she invited Jasper to join her on the couch and he didn’t think twice. Can you say, “Snuggle Bug?”

I couldn’t resist this picture!!! Jasper LOVES going for rides and he was hanging his head out the window the whole way to the vet.

And when he was not hanging his head out the window---he was my SUPER co-pilot!

Jasper is just a dream dog! He knows his basic commands—“sit” and “down.” His recall is pretty good---though I think it’s “selective” at times---he comes when nothing else is more exciting—HA! And---can this dog RUN!!! He LOVES playing fetch and the farther you throw it---the harder he runs! It was also noted that Jasper loves the water and is a swimmer—though we have not experienced that yet.
Jasper has been left for 8.5 hours during the workday with no problems---though he has good doggie company to spend the day with. This is his “girl” Avery 10-203 who he REALLY REALLY likes!

Like I mentioned---when Jasper wants your attention, he lets you know in his own subtle way. For example, I must have been on the computer too long for his liking last night because he wandered over and laid his big head right on the keyboard—HA! Another example of his subtle nature is when you are talking to someone and he wants your attention, he walks over and sits his rear end right on your feet and leans up against you—so endearing!!! My MOST favorite thing is laying next to him on the floor—he rolls over to his side and lifts his big paw onto you---he loves to be touched and rubbed like a BIG GENTLE bear!
Ideally—I can see Jasper in a family or with an individual that loves him as much as we do ALREADY! One that will spend time doing all sorts of fun things with him such as going to parks—going to the lake—running errands—playing fetch—taking a good walk/run—just totally incorporating him into their lives because he is so willing, so wonderful and so deserving! He loves to run and explore! A nice sized fenced yard to play in would be ideal –and of course visits to a dog park would be HEAVEN for Jasper! The vet was so impressed with how well behaved he is---he didn’t even let out a peep the whole time! The vet also said he’d make a perfect “visiting” dog because he’s so friendly and well-mannered. I couldn’t agree more!
If you think Jasper sounds like the most perfect dog—you are right! If you think you are the perfect family for this wonderful boy—please let your placement advisor know you’d like to meet him!
