Please help me WELCOME Jasper to the RAGOM family!!! Jasper's family circumstances have changed and so out of pure love for him, his mom entrusted RAGOM to find Jasper the home of his dreams and we thank her for such an honor! It is obvious how much love this boy received because he just beams with love! Jasper is one of the happiest boys I've ever met! He arrived yesterday and met our four-legged pack like old time friends! Jasper is a BIG boy--approx. 80 lbs. but not an ounce of fat on him. He's absolutely BEAUTIFUL and a total sweetheart! The only thing that may give away his senior boy age of 8 is that handsome raccoon-like mask he wears so gracefully---quite reminiscent of a fine young Super Hero!

Jasper jumped right in and made himself at home! He had a blast running with our pack and he couldn't keep his happy tongue in his mouth for more than a minute!

Jasper is very playful and was play-bowing to resident Jonah--who he really seems to like. This morning--he licked Jonah's ears clean---much to Jonah's chagrin. Shortly after arriving yesterday, we piled Jasper back into the car (which he LOVES!!!!) and headed out to a family BBQ!

This is not normal to do with a new foster dog---but this boy is about as "turn-key" as it gets! It was obvious that he loves people and other dogs and his paperwork said he loves car rides---so we brought him with and I'm sooo glad we did!

Jasper was a HUGE hit with everyone---especially with the kids!!! They played fetch with him the whole time! He minded his manners , made his rounds, and even when given a chance to steal a hotdog off the table, Jasper responded perfectly when we said, "No Jasper." What a GOOD BOY!!! After all the fun, Jasper was ready for bed! He slept all night through without a peep! What a great dog!

We are heading to the vet for a normal check up today, so I will update again soon! If you are interested in meeting this sweet boy, please let your placement advisor know right away---this boy is the epitome of Man's Best Friend! We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to foster him!

Jasper just got back from his family vacation way up north---on his very own island for the week! His new mom couldn't believe how much he loved swimming for hours with his fur-cousins Chili & Trip! There will be many more trips to the island, much to Jasper's delight no doubt! Jasper looks just INCREDIBLY HAPPY and so beautiful! Thank you "C" Family for giving our sweet Jasper the Golden Life he deserves!

Happy Boy!

Jasper went to his forever home on Friday evening and has been settling in perfectly! He has a new fur-sibling that he was quite interested in—HA!

“Now…how are you related to me?”

Jasper’s new family is SOOO thrilled to have him and we know this is going to be one great “HAPPY ENDING” story. Thank you “C” family for inviting this wonderful doggie into your home and making him a part of your sweet family! Jasper is one lucky dog!

Update from the “C” family:

I don't think we could have asked for a better dog! The weekend went well, and Jasper was able to meet Trip—my brother’s young Lab and his PT playmate. Jasper and Trip did well together, although there was some concern as to who I should be petting more—HA! Chili, my sister’s Golden, was pheasant hunting, so he hasn't met her yet. Jasper was alone yesterday morning for awhile when we were at Church and did well, and then today for a full day as we all returned to school and work and he did fantastic! My sister Kris came over for lunch, so he had a break during the day, but no problems at all. Jasper was a prince.

I think that he knows that I am emailing you as he has his head on the table next to the keyboard. That must be a Jasper “Hello” for you. He has now laid down so he must feel better that he was able to say “Hi.” Jasper goes to bed with Noah, and then once Noah falls asleep he comes up and sleeps next to my bed, he also has to check in on Betsy, but then comes back out. We have been going on lots of walks, and I guess you could call runs, but I am a bit out of shape at the moment. It has been really nice though, it gets us all out of the house. We are all doing well, and Jasper is relaxing more each day. He is starting to get a bit more used to the Guinea Pig, so I think that will calm down soon.

Jasper is just a sweetheart, and it is so nice to have a dog around again! I will continue to keep you posted on things around here, but say “Hi” to the rest of the dogs, and Jasper sends kisses to all!!

HERE IS THE JASPER SCOOP:

Jasper is one healthy boy! All his blood work came back excellent! YEAH! He’s up-to-date with his shots, he’s micro-chipped, and on flea/tick & HW preventative. Obviously, well cared for by a loving family!!! He weighed in at 73 lbs. which is a bit under weight for our boy---vet thinks 80lbs is probably his ideal weight. Jasper has been through a lot of recent changes in his home life and so—like us humans—dogs react to stress the same way, so once Jasper has a nice stable home life again---his weight should rebound just fine. Jasper is on a very low dose of Thyroid medication—but he is now under weight—so the vet said he should have his Thyroid rechecked in a few months. All in all—he received the “thumbs-up” from the vet and is now ready to find his forever family!!!

Jasper is the most wonderful family dog ever!!! He is sooo easy going, playful, adventurous, and down-right lovable to the core!!! Someone asked me if he was a Velcro dog—and my initial response was NO—meaning he does not hang all over you constantly--BUT he definitely wants to be where you are and will let you know when he wants some attention! He absolutely LOVES his people and is very much a lover boy.

It is my understanding that Jasper was not allowed on the furniture at his previous home—but my daughter doesn’t follow such rules and so she invited Jasper to join her on the couch and he didn’t think twice. Can you say, “Snuggle Bug?”

I couldn’t resist this picture!!! Jasper LOVES going for rides and he was hanging his head out the window the whole way to the vet.

And when he was not hanging his head out the window---he was my SUPER co-pilot!

Jasper is just a dream dog! He knows his basic commands—“sit” and “down.” His recall is pretty good---though I think it’s “selective” at times---he comes when nothing else is more exciting—HA! And---can this dog RUN!!! He LOVES playing fetch and the farther you throw it---the harder he runs! It was also noted that Jasper loves the water and is a swimmer—though we have not experienced that yet.

Jasper has been left for 8.5 hours during the workday with no problems---though he has good doggie company to spend the day with. This is his “girl” Avery 10-203 who he REALLY REALLY likes!

Like I mentioned---when Jasper wants your attention, he lets you know in his own subtle way. For example, I must have been on the computer too long for his liking last night because he wandered over and laid his big head right on the keyboard—HA! Another example of his subtle nature is when you are talking to someone and he wants your attention, he walks over and sits his rear end right on your feet and leans up against you—so endearing!!! My MOST favorite thing is laying next to him on the floor—he rolls over to his side and lifts his big paw onto you---he loves to be touched and rubbed like a BIG GENTLE bear!

Ideally—I can see Jasper in a family or with an individual that loves him as much as we do ALREADY! One that will spend time doing all sorts of fun things with him such as going to parks—going to the lake—running errands—playing fetch—taking a good walk/run—just totally incorporating him into their lives because he is so willing, so wonderful and so deserving! He loves to run and explore! A nice sized fenced yard to play in would be ideal –and of course visits to a dog park would be HEAVEN for Jasper! The vet was so impressed with how well behaved he is---he didn’t even let out a peep the whole time! The vet also said he’d make a perfect “visiting” dog because he’s so friendly and well-mannered. I couldn’t agree more!

If you think Jasper sounds like the most perfect dog—you are right! If you think you are the perfect family for this wonderful boy—please let your placement advisor know you’d like to meet him!
