Jazzy went home with his forever family today. Although we will miss him terribly, I know that the Z. family will cherish every moment with him. Happy fetching Jazzy!

We enjoyed another wonderful week with Jazzy. As more and more people have met Jazzy, I've been asked many questions about him. Some wonder whether he's too big for young children. We have a very petite four-year-old daughter and Jazzy's size has never been a problem. He is extremely gentle and considerate around small children. Others have wondered about having a dog that's obsessed with fetching. Jazzy certainly does enjoy it, but if I hide his tennis ball he's more than happy to play a different game. Hiding the ball also tends to bring out his fubsy side. Every night when I go to bed, Jazzy jumps up, lays down with his head across me and sighs with contentment. He may not be a Golden, but he has a heart of gold.
We enjoyed another wonderful week with Jazzy. We're starting to see more of his fubsy, cuddly side...resting his head in my lap while I work on the computer or snuggling up against me at bedtime. He has very soft, silky fur and petting Jazzy makes all of your troubles melt away. And last night we got to see how well Jazzy tolerates fireworks. Our local high school, which is right across the street, had their annual pep rally. The fireworks were incredibly loud, but Jazzy couldn't care less....cool as a cucumber.
Jazzy and I will be attending the RAGOM picnic on September 22. Please join us for a demonstration of his fetching skills!

I'm Jazzy's new foster mom. We got off to a great start together, because after I picked him up we stopped at the pet store for.....tennis balls! I've never seen a dog so skilled at fetching and catching tennis balls. He can catch a pop fly or a line drive...you name it. He then drops the ball at your feet and waits patiently for the next throw. It's great fun for our four-year-old daughter; no matter how unpredictable her throws are, Jazzy catches and returns. And despite his size, Jazzy is a gentle giant. He has never knocked her down...not even with those high precision ball drops.
In addition to his tennis ball skills, Jazzy gets along great with the other dogs and he couldn't be less interested in the cats. He hasn't had a single accident since he's been here, so it's safe to say he is fully housetrained.
Jazzy is incredibly easy going, relaxed, and just plain "happy to be here". He would do well in just about any home...all he needs is love (and a tennis ball).
Just a couple more pics of Jazz. He is a sweetie. He has slept in the bedroom 2 nights running and no problems... unless you call waking up with all 3 dogs on the bed and Jazz laying on your feet:) We have had no accidents since we finally can figure his ancy move wanting to go out. He was free in the house all day and nary a problem.
He is fine with the cats. In fact, wish I could have gotten a picture of him eating his food with the 2 cats eating their moist food next to him. He is ball crazy and can run like a greyhound. He brings it right back, drops it at your feet and is ready to go again. The only 'problem' is he doesn't know sit or anything else. But we are working on the "sit" thing for now. He is very trust worthy, doesn't run off and comes when called. He loves to lean in for for some loving. Last night I invited him up on the couch and he is so big/long, he got everything up except his hind legs. Once I pulled the rest of him up, he curled up and cuddled. After that he knew it was ok to put all of his body on the couch. He gets along great with resident Jake and Ranger 07-237, as long as he doesn't try to take a ball away from Jake, then there's some 'talking' from Jake.
I clipped Jazz's nails yesterday and though he was not fond of it, I kept reassuring him it was fine and we made it through. Someone must have loved him and cared for him at some point as he has had the big snip, can hold it for hours, eats nicely, and isn't crazy in the house, will chew on bones, loves to play etc. All he needs is someone to love him and take him to obedience class. He is awesome, loving, fun to play with, and a great cuddler.
We will be heading out Friday, but you still have Wednesday or Thursday to meet him. After that you are talking a long road trip to his new foster in Sioux Falls... though the drive would be well worth it. Jazz Man isn't all yellow lab, there's a little something else in there which makes him taller, longer, a bit of curl to his tail and a more setter looking face. Bottom line is he is a very sweet boy and would do well with kids a bit older only because of his size, I don't think he really knows how big he is. Also, got some numbers wrong on his age. He is more like a year old, not four.
He would be great on a camping trip or just going to visit the cabin or friends, so don't let the long week end put off meeting this boy. Contact placement

Have a safe and great long week end. This will be our last update on Jazz til you hear from his new foster.
