Jester 11-383

Profile

Jester is a Golden mix 7 year old male.  My guess is that he got the name Jester because he was a funny puppy and as an adult dog he sure makes us laugh!  Jester likes to be with people and LOVES getting pets.  Jester will make sure when you stop petting him you remember he is still near by as he will do a silly scoot-closer movement and lean on you or put his paw on top of your foot.  If you are petting him and he is lying down he will roll over in very slow motion for tummy rubs and look at you with his big brown eyes.  He is adorable!

Jester was surrendered to the humane society and had an injury to his left cheek.  It is unknown as to how or what happened.  Jester was surrendered to RAGOM from the local shelter in South Dakota.  He was taken to the Vet and his injury was taken care of.  As you can see from the photo, Jester's wound is almost completely healed.  Thank you to RAGOM for taking care of this big sweet boy!

Jester knew sit and come and was house trained when he came to our home in the twin cities.  He has learned to sit and wait when we put food in his dish; he waits when the door is opened before he goes out side; he is learning to be an air-bud dog (we through a tennis ball up on the garage roof and he catches it after one bounce when it hits the ground).  Jester is learning drop (lie down).

Jester has a few bad habits that we are working on and his furever home will have to re-enforce positive behavior.  Jester digs holes in the yard but will stop when told to; ripped up 1st blanket in his crate but after he was told that was not ok, he has left the 2nd blanket alone; he puts one paw up to get attention.

Jester will definitely need a Gentle Leader and dog school as he is a solid 90 lb lovable dog.  He measures approx. 25" from the floor to the middle of his back.

Jester has been neutered and is up to date on shots, so he's ready to go.  Jester likes kids, other dogs and loves tennis balls and car rides.  We do not have a cat so we are not sure how he'd react to them.  Jester takes treats very gently, goes into his crate willingly, and sleeps through the night.  More on this big gentle sweetie as we get to know him better.

Jester has moved to his furever home out in the country where he has lots of room to run and play.  His new fur-mates include a senior Golden and two cats.  In addition, on the same property, there is a Newfoundland and 2 more cats.  Jester has only been with his furever family for a few days but it sounds like he has totally settled in.  One of the cats will walk by Jester and lick his nose and paws.  Thank you for giving Jester a wonderful home and lots of love.  Hugs to sweet Jester from your foster family.

Here's what we have learned in the past week about this big sweet boy.

*Jester loves to ride in the van!

*He's learning how to walk nicely while wearing a Gentle Leader.

*Jester really enjoys being brushed.

*He sometimes barks at cars that drive by fast and runs/follows them along the length of our fence. So, if  Jester's forever home is in the cities he would do best in a fenced yard on a quiet street.

*When Jester goes to other people's home he does great especially if someone is willing to give him pets and tummy rubs.

*He takes treats very gently.

*Jester usually "puts himself to bed" in his crate.  We leave the door open, but usually find him sleeping there in the morning.

*Jester's previous owners said he has a fear of trains and is gun shot shy.

*Jester loves being around people.

*He's favorite play time is without a doubt playing ball!  You would think Jester is a 2 year old puppy when he is playing ball!

*Jester stood perfectly still for his shower today!

Just lovin' a ride in his Foster mom's van

Nothing like a good stick on a sunny day!
