Jet 11-208

Profile

Jet came to us Sunday night.  His first stop in the Twin Cities was with another foster since we couldn't pick him up until we were back in town.  We are thankful he went to her first because he came with a coat of fleas and she was fantastic as she bathed him and combed him out a few times.  So he was a pretty clean kid when we picked him up.  Jet is a loving, sweet, 5 month-old Golden Retriever/Black Lab mix.  He has the longer feathers, but definately some soft puppy fur to snuggle with which is just what he prefers to do - cuddle.  The first night we put him in the crate and showed us that he has a good set of lungs.  He settled down after a bit and just whimpered here and there.  FM was the one who didn't sleep much just concerned that he was okay.  But he slept really well.  He didn't make a peep in the early morning and was happy to come out and get outside for a bit.  He hasn't had any accidents in the house yet and has already found his place in the yard to do his business.  He gets along great with our resident dog, Sid,  who unfortunately hasn't shown much interest in playing with Jet, but hopefully he'll warm up to him and they can romp in the yard.

We went to the vet today and he is all up to date now on his vaccinations, including the medicine to get rid of all of the fleas.   He is a tiny 26 pounds and could afford to put on a few more, but he's not too scrawny.  We have him confined to the kitchen with baby gates for now and he is perfectly content as long as Sid, is there to keep him company.  He stretches out like a tadpole when he sleeps on the kitchen floor as you can see in the photo.  It's pretty cute.  He's a really happy, sweet little guy who I am sure will win over more than a few hearts.  We are in the process of setting up an appointment for him to get neutered.  I will update as we get to know this sweet little pup in the next few days.

Happy Sunny Day!!!!  Jet's results came back from the vet and he has two intestinal parasites that are easily treated with pills.  He will be finished with all of his medication within two weeks.  We also have him scheduled to be neutered next Thursday.  He will be good to go to his furever home shortly after.  He is lucky to already be meeting a family next weekend.  It's hard to resist a puppy!

He has been sleeping in a crate at night in the living room because the crate we currently have is too big to fit upstairs in FM and FD's bedroom, but he seems perfectly content and sleeps soundly until about 6 or 6:30 when he is ready to come out and shower us with kisses and puppy love.  He keeps his crate clean, but we have learned that if we don't let him out right after he eats he will leave a 'present' for us on the tile floor.  We need to be better about getting him out as he continues to go pee and poop in the same spot way off in the corner of the yard.

He is a smart little guy.  He knows sit.  He loves to chase and fetch a ball or any other toy you throw for him.  He brings it back too!  He is motivated by treats for sure, but also is happy to be rewarded with snuggles and pets.  Jet and our resident dog, Sid, are playing in the yard.  Jet likes to try and grab the balls and toys from Sid's mouth.  He also thinks he is just as big as Sid until Sid rolls him over while they are playing.  Jet LOVES to play!  While I am sitting here typing, Jet walked into his crate and curled up on his bed...that is great!!! We like to know that is a happy place for him at night and while we are gone.

We picked up a smaller crate from RAGOM today so Jet can sleep on FM and FD's room tonight.  Sid will be there as well.  I'll be curious to see if he sleeps wakes us up earlier or later now that he is in the same room with us.  We'll see!

Enjoy the sunshine!
