Hi, Julianne here! I have recently arrived from Turkey – yes, the country of Turkey! And, as you can see, I am as happy as I can be to be in the USA. I just can’t stop smiling. My Turkish pals were so great to me and brought me all this way, and I am now in Alexandria, MN. I am learning English and the ways of this house. I have not lived in a house before, so it is all new, but I LIKE IT! And, I am working very hard on learning some new commands.  I hear “come”, “sit”, “stay”,  “good potty”, “good girl”, and lots of other stuff that is starting to make sense.

I also went to the vet last week and checked out very well.  All of the boxes on the vet report were in the normal range.  Those included my eyes, ears, nose, throat, gums, teeth, heart, respiratory, abdomen, skin, muscle, bones, nervous system AND my attitude and behavior! (Psst, they listed me as sweet and mellow!)  My only issues were I tested positive for worms.  Oh, how embarrassing!  We are taking care of that!  And, I tested positive for Anaplasmosis and Erlichia which are from ticks, and I have a 28 day supply of an antibiotic for that.  Well, and I more thing -- I have to loose 10-15 pounds.  I did not get much exercise in my old life as I was owned by an animal hoarder, and just lived tied to my dog house, so I did not burn many calories.  So now, I am looking for someone who will feed me quality food and give me plenty of exercise to help me get to a healthy weight.

Ok, Foster Mom (FM) thinks she needs to tell you a bit more…..

Julianne is a wonderful dog.  She is very mellow and adaptable.  She is a petite girl in height( not petite in weight yet!).  She was owned by an animal hoarder and was tied to her dog house in her former life in Turkey.  Being in a house seemed all very new and scary for her, but she has adapted quickly.  Below are a few more things that we have observed so far:

She loves to be brushed, and we spent most of our first day brushing, cutting out mats, trimming nails and getting a bath.  She really needed that spa day!

She has done well with our resident dog and all the dogs that she has encountered.  I think she would be fine to have another dog in her forever family, but I don’t think it is necessary.

She has only been around one cat since we have had her and that was the clinic cat.  She was only mildly interested in him.

We introduced her very gradually to my 10, 8 and 5 year old grandchildren and I’m guessing she hadn't had much to do with children before.  She warmed up pretty quickly in the house.  When we went outside, she thought they were great and retrieved the ball for them, and they all had a good time.  I do think if she is going to live with kids that it would be better for grade school age and up.

Julianne continues to do very well.  She is such a mellow girl and a pleasure to be around.

We had a very good week, including a visit to a local nursing home.  She was a hit with the residents and staff alike.  I was so proud of her, and she loved it.
