Juno (Daisy 08-013)

Profile

When she was eight weeks old, Daisy was purchased from a pet store by a couple that had never owned a dog - they got it for their three children. Things obviously didn't go well. Daisy spent most of her day in her crate. After four months she was taken to the local Humane Society. An older gentleman walked in on the day she was scheduled to be euthanized and, even though he wanted an older dog, he adopted Daisy; "You can't just put a purebred puppy down! That just isn't right!" he said.

He kept Daisy out on the farm in his rental home where she mostly ran free all day. Now he's lost his rental, the pup is just too exuberant for him and he needs to begin to travel in his new job. Reluctantly he surrendered Daisy to RAGOM.

On Friday she left her home and took a six-hour ride from central North Dakota to eastern Minnesota. Then she met the resident dog; the Holy Terrier. If that wasn't enough trauma she had her first, ever, veterinarian visit bright and early on Saturday morning. Just when she might have thought things were going to settle down a bit, Sunday found her at the Land o' Lakes dog show. It was all quite overwhelming. And through it all she managed to be a really good girl. For the last few days she and the resident dog have bonded, playing adventurous games, sharing the sunbeam on the chilly day and have been the picture of happiness.

The good points: she's a healthy, forty-five pound, one-year-old Golden. The Bad: she's never had any discipline nor training and she may be pregnant. We can do something about the lack of training - she's already getting pretty good at "sit" and "off". The possibility of pregnancy? We'll just have to wait on that.

Daisy has been adopted. She went home with Ann on Thursday. Doesn't she look just as content as can be?

We have had Daisy 2 short months, and have become really attached to this sweet girl. If there was a perfect dog it would have to be Daisy. She is really a golden, she lives to be petted! She loves attention of any kind. So we are both happy and sad to tell you Daisy has found her forever home. We realize we can not keep Daisy and foster other dogs if we want to give them the attention our fosters need, so Daisy will be going home with Ann on Thursday to live her life as an only dog. Ann's sister has a golden, so Daisy will be able to play with her dog, Owen, often. We feel Daisy will have the best of both worlds.

We asked Daisy, "Would you like to go for a ride?" We promised her more new sniffs than she ever knew existed; foreign sniffs, big sniffs, never-before-sniffed sniffs.

She wanted to go.

So Daisy has been out of town for several weeks and that's why there have been no updates. She's been busy sniffing those promised sniffs. Study the photos that show a few highlights of her trip and you'll see that she was able to experience sights, sounds and smells that she wouldn't have been able to get here in largely frozen Minnesota. Can you tell where she's been?

One of the reasons that she was available to take a few weeks to travel is that there was too big a possibility that she was pregnant. We had to wait and see if there were puppies or if she could be spayed. So while we waited, we traveled. No sense just sitting around when you can get something done, like searching out new sniffs.

She's not pregnant! Her session with the veterinarian to get spayed has been scheduled, so she will be ready to be adopted after Monday. She is a real sweety and she is going to make someone a wonderful companion. If she sounds like the one for you, please email placementatragom [dot] org
