Justice (Adalet) was surrendered back to RAGOM when her family situation changed. She became the only dog and seemed sad without her doggie friend. She is a healthy girl who can live with children of any age. She can come on a bit strong when meeting other dogs, but thrives on the companionship of a doggie friend. She cannot live with cats. A physical fence is optional. Adalet needs a family that is home more often than not, as she feels stressed when left alone.

Today is a happy/sad day at my house. Happy for Ada and her new adoptive family.

At her new home, she will have two doting humans to pet and cuddle with and do all of the things that she loves to do! They are crazy about her and so happy to have her join their family. Lots of good times ahead for them!

It is hard to say goodbye to sweet Ada and I will miss her. Fostering is very rewarding and I look forward to welcoming a new dog to my home, so happiness is just around the corner.

Happy trails to Ada!

We got the test results back and Ada (Justice) has a urinary tract infection (UTI). She has started a two-week course of antibiotics. Poor girl had both ears infected and a UTI when she came to us. She must have been really uncomfortable!

Since she started the medication she has not had any accidents inside and is peeing less often on walks. She will go back to the vet for another urine check once her medication is done.

We have been doing some clicker training with her to increase her comfort in a crate. That is still in the early stages. She is very smart and responds well to the clicker. It helps that she is very food motivated (like most Goldens!).

She likes to keep an eye on what is going on outside and barks when she sees anything new. I have attached a photo of her vigilant mood.

Ada has had a busy week. We have been working on getting her more comfortable in her crate. She has been eating in her crate and has no problem going in.

She is not barking as much when I leave her free in the house, but has had some accidents. These might be caused by a physical problem, so I had her urine checked. We are waiting for results on that test.

I have started using a Gentle Leader head collar on her when walking. She is getting used to it and no longer pulls when we walk.

The Gentle Leader also makes it easier to control her when we see strange dogs on the walk. She does not bark as much when she is wearing it. She met a new dog, and after a short walk, the barking stopped. When we got back to a fenced-in yard, they played together very nicely.

Ada really likes being with people, so would do best in a home with multiple people so that she would not be left alone for long periods of time.

Adalet came from Turkey originally and was adopted two years ago. She had been living in a home with a second dog and that changed when the other dog left the household. She seemed to be sad and so was returned.

Her name means "Justice" in Turkish. Her previous owner called her Addy, but since I have a resident dog named Abby, I am calling her Ada. She is fine with that.

As you can see in the pictures, she is a pretty little girl. She is a bit on the small side for a Golden. She weighs 50 pounds and is shorter than both of my resident dogs.

She is currently being treated for infections in both ears and takes an allergy pill daily. She was very well-behaved in the car and at the vet.

She likes other dogs, but comes on a bit strong when she first meets them. She races up and barks in their face. She seems to just want to play, but it can be a bit shocking for the other dog. It took her a couple of days to stop doing that to my resident dogs, but now all is well.

She pulls when we walk each day. I am going to try a different type of collar on her to see if that helps.

Adalet is still settling in to life at my house. She gets stressed if I am gone from the house for 3 or more hours at a time. This is probably a reaction to her being moved to a new home. I am trying some different things to help her with this and will update her page as this progresses. She is not destructive, but does bark while I am away.

She is a sweet girl who would love to find a home where she will have human companionship most of the time. She would also enjoy a dog friend. She is walking about 4.5 miles each day with me.

Justice is a three-year-old female Golden Retriever, one of 15 homeless dogs who arrived from Turkey in September. She weighs 44 pounds and is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and on Heartgard and flea and tick medication. Justice’s overall health is good. She is currently being treated for ear infections and skin problems. She takes pills easily with a little string cheese and sits quietly for ear medication.

Justice has a quiet dignity that changes to high-energy play in a flash. Tug-of-war and keep-away with my resident dogs are two of her favorite games. She also loves to wrestle. Unfortunately, she has developed an obsession with the cat (who is now living behind closed doors).

She loves people and follows me around all day. She is food-motivated and takes treats gently.

Justice was one of hundreds of Golden Retrievers abandoned in Turkey’s forests and city streets. There is no doubt that she was once someone’s pet. She understands stairs, doorways, and how to hop in and out of cars. She is a good passenger. I believe Justice was once housebroken. She does her business outside, but has also had some accidents in the house. We are working on this.

Justice earned her name by joining two thousand Turkish citizens in a 24-day protest march from Ankara to Istanbul. The marchers called her Adelet (Turkish for Justice). When the marchers arrived in Istanbul, they found her a place in the shelter. She is something of a celebrity in Turkey.

Of course, no dog is perfect. Justice refuses to remain quiet in her crate. I’ve been giving her free roam. She sleeps quietly on my bedroom floor at night. She is not destructive.
