Kallie (Chaos 08-051)

Profile

Welcome to RAGOM, Chaos! Chaos, aka Zoe, is a 3.5 month old Golden Retriever/Labrador Retriever mix who came from a shelter up north with her littermate Mischief over the weekend. Chaos was named before we met her, and it sure doesn't fit--she is not a spastic trouble making puppy by any means. She loves the fresh snow and runs and jumps and plays in it, but she doesn't race around the house making all kinds of trouble, as her name would imply. She retrieves a tennis ball already, is carrying around squeaky toys, plays tug with Wyatt. She even has learned to sit and take treats like her foster brother and sister! She is also trying REALLY hard to get the grumpy female, Sassy, to like her. When she wants to play with Sassy and Sassy curls her lip and growls, Zoe moves away, but when she just wants to lay by Sassy and snuggle, she ignores the curled lip and curls up by Sassy's butt, where she is just out of reach of Sassy's teeth, and Sassy leaves her alone. It is pretty cute to watch, she's a smart girl!

Housebreaking is a work in progress, but we are getting there. She knows to go potty outside when she is out, but hasn’t quite connected that she should not go in the house as well. She is a healthy girl who just loves people--if you sit down on the floor and cross your legs, she will crawl right into your lap and curl up. She also loves to snuggle on the couch or on the bed (bad foster mom). She is going to make a GREAT companion for some lucky family! If you are an approved applicant, please email Placement and let them know you would like to meet this sweet little girl!

Hi everyone, Zoe Zoom-Zoom here! Big news, I've been adopted! Wow! I have this GReat family, Liz and Lech, who are taking just awesome care of me. They love me lots already :-) My foster family sent me to my new home a little over a week ago, they packed up my toys and blankie and Kong to go with me, and when I got to my new home, there were MORE TOYS for me! How lucky am I!!!

My new name is Kallie, and I like it a lot. Mom says I'm doing really great with being alone while mom and dad are at work, so everyone is really happy with me. I'm still going to puppy kindergarten and learning tons, and I love to play with the puppies--they are all smaller than I am, so it is really fun!

I want to thank RAGOM for taking me in and getting me out of that scary shelter, along with my sister Mischief. I also want to say thanks and hugs to my foster family, and to Sassy and Wyatt, for taking such good care of me and loving me so much while I waited for my new family to find me. I miss all of you, but I'm SO happy in my new home. Lots of love to everyone, and mom promised pictures so you can see how beautiful I grow up to be!

Love and kisses,

Kallie

Chaos/Zoe, has hit the “I want to chew, chew, chew!” Until this last week she did not chew anything inappropriate. She doe not like loud noises, if we are outside, she will head back to the house. She also doesn’t like the vacuum cleaner, maybe that is why she chewed through the cord?

We have taken her to several places and to Aunt Lu’s for puppy day care. (Zoe says “Thanks! Aunt Lu, Bell and Cody!) She loves to play with the big dogs and plays a pretty mean game of keep away. She is a smart girl, at least when she wants to be. She is learning a lot, very fast, but still needs her snuggle time.

Zoe has gotten very good about going in her kennel at night when we are here. That has not translated to being in her kennel when we are gone. She seems to be getting worse about being left in kennel when we are not home. It has resulted in accidents in her kennel. We are trying some different things to help her learn that the kennel is not a bad place to be when we are gone, but for whatever reason, we have not been successful.

Chaos/Zoe has been with us just over a two weeks now, and she is truly a great puppy to have around. She watches the resident dogs Wyatt and Sassy like a hawk, and tries to imitate everything they do. She now leaps up on the couch, takes rope toys and shakes them like Sass does, and she takes the stuffed hedgehogs and runs with them in her mouth, squeaking them as fast as she can, just like big brother Wyatt. It is pretty cute. She is even trying to keep up with Wyatt when he does his "speed racer" laps around the yard. When she falls behind, she barks at him with her little puppy bark, it is quite hysterical. She also has a bad “Sweet Potato” habit. She believes all Sweet Potatoes are hers. She likes to steal them and use them as chew toys.

We are making good progress with both the crate training and housebreaking. She doesn't have a good signal to go outside yet. She is now sleeping through the night in her crate (YAY!!), she goes in at bedtime and fusses for about 30 seconds, then she is out like a light. She is less enthused about going in during the day, it appears she doesn't like to be in there when we aren't at home and she raises a pretty loud ruckus when we leave. But I came back to the house after being gone for about 10 minutes a few days ago, and she had stopped barking, so she seems to settle down quickly enough. As far as the housebreaking, she is getting it, she never messes in her crate and the accidents in the house are much less frequent. She just hasn't figured out yet to completely empty her bladder when she goes outside, but I think it is just a matter of a little time.

Zoe is a terrific puppy, great company and a real snuggler. She hasn't met a dog she doesn't like, and she met about 15 of them at PetCo on Saturday! Although with the big dogs she needs a minute to get comfortable. She met Coal and Misty, 2 very large Newfies. It didn't stop her for long. Even the grouchy female Sassy is grudgingly accepting of her being around, pretty high praise as Sass is VERY picky about who she plays with. She loves to run, run, run and play, play, play! She is an energetic young girl.
