Hello and Happy New Year RAGOM friends!
We wanted to take a moment to thank you and send an update on our amazing dogs, Panda (10-358) and Kelly (18-014A).
We welcomed sweet, sweet Kelly to our home in March and she is such a joy. She has the brightest little spirit, always seems happy, wags her tail constantly and loves, loves, loves her big brother, Panda.
When she first came home, she watched everything Panda did and wouldn’t go outside without him. He was a good leader and watched out for her.
As time has gone on, she’s gotten more confident and now happily runs outside and has friendly visits through the fence with the Yorkie who lives next door. She loves to roll around on the floor playing with her favorite rope toys and tennis balls and she cuddles in close when we’re on the couch or in bed.
We had her DNA tested too – just so she wouldn’t feel left out – and hers came back as expected, 100% Golden Retriever. She’s such a good girl – easy-going and happy. She and Panda are the sweetest duo. I'm attaching a few of the thousands of pictures we have of our loved pups.
We are so very grateful to RAGOM for rescuing these best dogs. We couldn’t love them more. Happy New Year to all!

It is with bittersweet joy that I report that Kelly was adopted and is now nicknamed Kelly-O-Kelly, because she was one heck of an Irish blessing. She was adopted by the D family who loved her at first sight, and she moved into her new home on March 17.
Kelly was from one of the Missouri auctions, and was a very scared pooch when she came into our care. She was with our foster family long enough for me to fall madly, deeply in love with her, as did my resident dogs. She is sweet and affectionate and finds great comfort with her adoptive family's other RAGOM dog, Panda. She is already having the time of her life. The photos below were taken when two members of the D family came to take her home.

Here’s Kellie trying to win her way into my lap. She almost always wins.
We tested her yesterday with a long walk/run with our other dogs. She did fabulously and pranced much of the time to show her enjoyment! You would never guess there were any issues or lack of socialization. She walked well on a leash. I actually had two on her. She walked happily along side the other dogs. Oh, the fresh air and new smells. My big fear was that she would eat poop for four miles (she is a poop eater), but she didn’t go for any! She had a bunch a new smells to check out and was agreeable with walking and running.
Kelly is now seven months old and will be spayed this week. She will be available for adoption, but it will need to be in a home that understands she has some training work ahead of her. She has made good progress, but has a lot of training ahead of her. It’s important for her to have an older dog as a companion and teacher. And it’s important for her to be able to share her need for affection. Her calm disposition could make her an option for some kind of a therapy dog with the proper training.
She doesn’t always like the crate and she still has an accident in the house once in a while, and if I take her out alone, she is very intimidated. We’ve been on a lot of car rides lately to see how she she does, and she is starting to really enjoy them. Those we do without the other dogs, and she’s gotten past her timidness.
Are you the right match for this Golden beauty? Though she will be a little high-maintenance to start, she is a beautiful and sweet dog.

Kelly is quite at home and loves her stuffed animals. She is no longer timid with any of the family and greets us all with sweet love (especially me). She is a very soft, petite girl with a nice fluffy coat, so snuggles are always welcome.
Who wants to welcome this darling Golden girl into there home to show her the Golden Life? She will be spayed and available for adoption on 3/6. This foster mama will have a very hard time letting her go!

Kelly has become quite comfortable in the back yard where it is safe and she visits it multiple times a day. She romps with our other 4-leggers and then rest peacefully in the play room.
We were brave enough to get her out for a walk on the lake the other night. Actually, it was snow-shoeing. Who knew snow shoes could be dangerous when you have a 40-pound puppy prancing on the back of the shoe with every step that you take! It was a good workout for me and it was a blast for Kelly. The other dogs kept her close and unfortunately taught her how to eat the bait from the outside of the icehouse where it is kept cold.
Kelly is very attached and will need someone that can giver her time for the affection she needs.

This beautiful girl came to us a few weeks ago from a commercial breeder. She was scared. Very scared. At first, I thought she was unable to walk because she wound herself up in a ball so tightly and put no weight on her back legs. I lifted her up and immediately became her go-to person, which was not too hard to do as this was also how we went out to go potty, so I was lifting her up quite a bit. When put on the ground, she would freeze with fear and not walk. I don’t think she pooped or peed for the first two days. On the other hand, by the end of that first day, while I was still holding her, I sat with her in my lap, and Kelly softly lay her head on my shoulder and took a nap.
As advised, Kelly had the first few days in her crate in the living room, not exactly off the beaten path, but not right in the middle of things. I could sit in the living room with my laptop and keep her company without scaring her. Slowly but surely, she met the clan and our two resident dogs. In fact, I could almost see the words jump out of her mouth, “MY TRIBE!” when she first saw our resident dogs. That’s when her tail started wagging, and she was happy to greet them.
Anyway, by day three, she would make her way out of the crate on all fours, only to turn tail and run back in at the slightest movement or noise. With two resident dogs and teenagers, you can imagine that was a lot! The crate was definitely her safety place. That soon changed with protests about sleeping alone in her crate. (She wasn’t even alone. She had Cala in a crate right next to her.) We are continuing to work on making her crate a good place. She barks a little less each night.
We are also working on potty training, and she’s made great strides there. It’s especially helpful having the other two dogs to show her the ropes.
At six months old, she is playful, but not wild. She’s a very gentle girl. She LOVES rolling in the snow and then coming in for a cuddle. She will be available soon after she is spayed.
