Star's final update, from her adoptive family!
I've been anxious to give you an update on how Star is doing. She is getting along great with our golden, Asia. They are spending more and more time together. Asia seems very willing to share her toys, her blanket, and even her bed. All she asks is that I pet her more than usual for assurance. It is clear that Star looks to Asia to find out the plan. If Asia goes outside, Star is right there. If Asia changes location in the house, Star is right behind her. Sometimes they'll sit side by side, but many times Star likes to face Asia, paws to paws. Asia is assuming the role of big sister and is teaching Star some of her famous antics - like eating just the inside of a shoe, and pulling out the stuffing and squeaker from a stuffed toy. Fortunately, she seems to prefer dog toys to human ones. They'll engage in active play several times a day, usually at Star's request. She is very calm otherwise, though, and doesn't whine or bark at anything. She's very alert outside and it's somewhat hard to get her to concentrate on doing her business with all the birds, other dogs, and different smells in the neighborhood. She likes to sit on the hill in our backyard and just take it all in. She loves to lay and roll in the grass. She went to the Vet on Friday and he said she looks good. We're working hard on going potty outside, hoping that treats will be the added incentive. She sits on command and is starting to understand her name and the word "out". We are so pleased to have Star with us and she seems to be more trusting and affectionate every day.
