It is with a sad heart that I am notifying you we had to help Kilo cross over peacefully last Wednesday. He was likely 14 and transitioned quickly where he could no longer stand up by himself.
He had 1 wonderful happy year with us where we saw him blossom into a confident indoor dog. He learned how to get (demand) frequent treats. He learned to love nightly pontoon rides. He would actually run down the yard to the boat sometimes, surprising us!
He learned that he did like scratches, especially on the face. He learned from Esther how to bunny hunt. While he was deaf and didn’t see well, he could see movement that he boldly barked at, a lot. Sometimes he would just bark randomly in the air.
We loved him so much for the year he was with us. Thank you RAGOM for these opportunities.

Kilo has found his forever home. He will enjoy his days indoors in heat and AC, only going out when he wants. He can explore the large gardens, grass and trees between his frequent naps. In the summer, he can enjoy the nightly pontoon rides. He will be deeply loved and cared for the remainder of his days.

Hello, people! Kilo here!
Guess what? I'm going to be at Goldzilla! That's right, so come and meet me in person on Sunday, September 8, at Long Lake Regional Park, New Brighton, MN. It will be great fun, and of course, I will show you how I love, love, love your attention.
In the last few weeks, I learned that people hang out in houses, so if you are there, they will pet you, and give you treats, and talk to you and look at you! It's great and I want to show you how much I love it.
I have had some other new experiences this week too. One of my absolute new favorite things is riding on the water, in a boat, called a pontoon. The wind makes my ears flap backwards! The waves are so cool to watch, and there are ducks and loons!
I went to a groomer also! I thought at first it was a torture chamber, but after I realized that they were going to pay me lots of attention, I loved it!
So please come and meet me and the other incredible Golden Retrievers who are waiting for their perfect family to pick them!

Kilo entered RAGOM care in July. The surrendering family was moving and could not take him with them.
He was with a loving family who had him as a farm dog. He lived in a barn with another dog and cats. He was never in the house.
He is totally deaf, but his vision seems good. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations, and now has a RAGOM microchip.
His hips seem to hurt him some when he walks, but he does stairs fine and will occasionally run through the yard. There are no other known medical concerns.
He is getting used to inside living and has only had a few inside accidents, but none lately. He will bark randomly into the air (not sure what that's about), but stops when you approach him. He will do this sometimes in the middle of the night.
It is apparent that he was never on a leash and is learning how to do this. He gets easily distracted with smells and the excitement of being in a new place on a walk. He rides well in the car.
Kilo is a very happy old guy who lived his life completely outside and is now enjoying indoor living. He loves attention and will nudge into you frequently to get it. He wants a quiet house where he can sleep most of the day in the luxury of being in air conditioning and/or heat.
He loves food and will seek it out constantly, especially any kind of treat or any low-lying ripe tomatoes on your plants!
He does great with other dogs or cats, but would not mind being an only dog, as long as he gets plenty of your love. However, he would not like to be with a younger dog that wants to tear around and bug him; none of that nonsense!
Younger children may be bothersome to him also. What Kilo wants most is a laid-back family who thinks the world revolves around him and wants to give him comfort and safety for his last years. He will repay you with tons of love!
