Hello, everyone! I'd like to introduce you to Kip. Kip is an almost two-year-old (DOB: 3/10/2013) Golden Retriever-Poodle mix (a Doodle) who was lovingly surrendered to RAGOM by many people who loved him throughout his first two years. Kip is neutered and he weighs about 65 pounds; the vet said his weight looks good, as long as he stays exercised and healthy! That won't be much of a problem for Kip, as he has more energy than any foster we've ever had! He is an extremely handsome, very happy, and very lovable young boy!

Kip is house-trained (he and our resident are alone, with free roam, for up to 8 hours during a full work day), crate trained-which he used in his previous home, does not resource guard, and is very good with all dogs he has met, large and small. Kip's energy might be off-putting to an older dog, because he's not very good yet at reading signals from other dogs when they try to tell him they have had enough. We have not yet had the chance to cat-test him.

Kip does not require a fence, as a tie out would suffice, and he's definitely boundary-trainable as long as it's done properly; he definitely needs a place to run and play safely to burn off some of that energy! Kip has done very well with the children he's met, but he does have a bad habit of taking food off of your plate or out of your hand. For this reason, children 5 and up are recommended. Kip knows a few basic commands, sit and drop, but would definitely benefit from obedience training in the near future. He is very food-motivated, and would be a wonderful student :-).

Kip is one of the goofiest, quirky, and loving dogs we've ever fostered; he has a very unique and special personality and we fell in love with him incredibly quickly. So, if you'd like the chance to meet him at his foster home in Iowa, I'd talk with your placement advisor soon!
