Kitra = Love. You might not have seen it laid out quite that way before, but it’s true! This darling five-week old girl is named after Kitra N., the woman who organized the simultaneous rescue of nearly 90 dogs just last week. If she can do that in a few days, imagine the impact she has had over the years she has been working to save dogs from lives filled with hunger, disease and neglect.

Sadly, this little puppy is not going to escape the life she was born into as easily as some of her siblings. Kitra has been diagnosed with Parvo and is in the intensive care unit at the University of Minnesota’s vet hospital. Though her foster mom has been treating her at home with fluids and antibiotics as recommended by the vet, early today her condition worsened and thanks to the vigilance of her FM she was admitted to the hospital. Her care at the U will likely run in the thousands of dollars, but this solid five pounds of puppy love is worth every dime.

With expert care, hard work, and the fighting spirit she shares with her namesake, Kitra has a chance to survive and know the love of a forever family. Will you help? If you can help defray the costs of her care, please consider a donation to RAGOM in her name.

Hi Kitra fans, It's me Kitra and I've got a big surprise for all you.  Guess where I am?  I'm at my new home with my forever family!!!   Yup, I've settled right in and love living here.  I have two moms, two big girl dogs, three cats and a parrot.  So far I am doing well and my moms are so happy that I know how to use my pee pads....well of course, I'm a good girl and did learn some manners at foster mom's house. They love me very much and think I am the best....well of course I am.

I heard I get to have a play date with Hank later this week......can't wait to see the big guy and show him my new house and my family. Hope he hangs out for a while so we can wrestle and play.  I bet I am still bigger than him.

Here's a photo of me with my moms on the day they picked me up at foster mom's house.  I'll send more photos another time, but wanted everyone to know I am doing very well and am very happy with my family.  Thank you to everyone who helped me find my family and helped RAGOM pay for our care.

Oh, yes and I get to keep my name....I'm Kitra Sue now....thanks Kitra N for saving me and my family.

Your pal, Kitra Sue

It's been a busy few days for Kitra.  On Saturday Kitra and her siblings along with foster brother Tanner 10-331 and my two resident labs spent a few hours outside playing in my fenced back yard.  While Kitra was a bit shy and nervous at first, she soon realized that the big back yard was not too scary and that while the stairs off the deck seemed a bit daunting, the ramp off the deck was really a ton of fun to race up and down on.  In no time Kitra had mastered the steps and was enjoying herself running with her siblings and the big dogs.  Once outside play time was done, all the puppies had a much needed bath in the kitchen sink.  Kitra loves water, so bath time is one of her favorite activities (next to eating).  Snuggle time while drying under the heat lamp was also a big hit for her.  Sleeping not so much......I thought all the pups would be so tired but not so.....they were up at 4 am on Sunday.  I guess they knew they were going to have a big day of visitors so they got up extra early.  Foster mom will be catching up on her sleep once they are all off to their forever homes.

                      Kitra & Artie

Sunday brought many visitors to our house as most of the families who are adopting the pups stopped by for some bonding time and introductions to their extended families as well as introductions to resident canine family members.  Several friends and neighbors stopped by as well as everyone wanted to get one last chance to see all the pups before they leave for their forever families.  Kitra had a great time playing with kids and adults and everyone remarked on how dark her coat is and how big she is.....no one can believe that she was the smallest pup and is now the largest.

On Monday Kitra and Hank visited VCA in Golden Valley for their spay and neuter surgery.  I was pretty nervous for their surgery but both pups came through with out a problem.  They spent the night at the vet and came home on Tuesday morning.  Kitra and Hank need to stay quiet and can not play with the rest of the pups so they are spending their time either in a crate or in an x-pen.  They both have medication for pain and are doing well......neither have to wear the cone of shame as they are leaving their incision sites alone.....helps that our wonderful vet places all sutures internally so they do not have anything to chew on.

Kitra will go to her forever home on Thursday afternoon.  I will miss this little spitfire and feel puppy withdrawal coming on soon.  Thankfully Kitra's wonderful new family has already invited me to visit them anytime I feel the need for puppy snuggles......suspect I will have to take them up on their offer as these pups have become part of my family during their 9 week stay at my house.  We have all been through so much and they will all leave with a piece of my heart.  Too bad I don't have stock in Kleenex!!

Hi folks, it's me Kitra and I'm doing my own update today cause I'm a big girl now.  Can you believe that I was the smallest pup when I arrived at foster mom's house....I  weighed only 3.56 pounds on the 23rd of January and now I weigh in at 17.8 pounds and am officially the largest....take that Hank and Ardis!!  I've been a very busy girl, I've learned how to do stairs, both up and down and can walk on a leash.  I sit for my food and am learning stay.  Foster mom calls me a wild child as I am a very active girl and play really hard with all my siblings and with the big dogs.  I also like to snuggle and sleep in her lap and give sweet kisses....ok, sometimes I bite....just ask foster mom about her finger.....sorry foster mom.  I also love to go outside and run around the big fenced yard with the big dogs......yesterday foster mom opened the window and I could hear birds singing and all kinds of new smells.

Speaking of being busy, guess what?  I met my forever moms last week.  They have been back to visit me two more times now and are totally in love with me....well who wouldn't be totally in love with me?  Next Monday I go to the doctor for my big surgery so I can't have any puppies and then at the end of the week I will go home with my new family.  Let's see, I will have two moms, two big dogs to play with, two cats to play with and a parrot to hang out with.  I get to live on 6 acres and will sleep on the beds with my new moms....am I a lucky girl or what??  I heard my new moms invite my foster mom to visit me and we are already planning play dates and reunions....maybe at Goldzilla next September.....won't that be cool.  Well, got to go, the sibs are awake and need me to play with them.  Your friend, Kitra.

This little wild-child is always ready for action.  In her picture you can see her on the far left.  She looks innocent, but she’s got a great poker face, and chances are she is just taking a pause while she orchestrates her next puppy exploit!

Thank you for your sponsorship of this rough and tumble puppy, Melonie!  Kitra is hoping you will break her out for a wild adventure one of these nights…  She’s thinking maybe a polar bear plunge would get her adrenaline pumping!  Yeah?  I bet that is high on your bucket list!  Whenever you’re ready, she’ll be by your side!

Hi everyone!  It’s Kitra and I feel GRrrrrrrreat!  I don’t look half-bad either….  I have been having a super time!  FM takes us all sorts of fun places and lets us explore and play.  We get to hang out on the floor, in the kennels, and outside in the snow!  Just went it starts to get a little boring, she moves us somewhere new!  Outside is the best place to wrestle and play with the other fur-kids ‘cause it makes for soft landings.  It doesn’t matter much to me, because I always land on top, but some of the other guys aren’t quite as tough as I am.  What can I say?  It’s good to be the Jared Allen of the RAGOM Parvo pups! Some of these other puppies need to loosen up a bit… All work and no play makes Hank a dull boy!  And Rona needs to take off her tiara and tutu and get in the game.

In other good news, I am officially the biggest!  That’s right.  I am 9.75 lbs of feisty fur-ball!  It’s good to be queen.

Check out Kitra with one of her favorite helpers at the U!  She looks pretty sweet and innocent…

You’d never guess what a spitfire she is at home!

Shhhh! Be very, very quiet. Kitra is sleeping and we love her that way!  We love her when she is awake, too, but the experience is slightly more… participatory. You know how they say photographs don’t lie?  Well, they don’t exactly, but in Kitra’s case they don’t tell the whole truth either.  Do you notice in her pics how she appears to be still? Let’s just say the camera takes good high speed photographs.

This little devil girl is rowdy, and all about having fun!  She is feeling great and on her way to a happy, healthy life full of romping and playing.  Kitra loves the same way she does everything else – with nothing held back.  Are you an adventure?  Ready to take on the world?  Want a furry companion to keep you company, make you laugh, and remind you that something in the world is just as it should be?  Kitra is your girl!

While these pups appear to be out of the woods and heading toward a future with fantastic families, their  medical bills remain.  Despite many generous donations, RAGOM is struggling to pay for the care they so desperately needed.  If you can help, please visit http://ragom.org/shop/featured/donate-93.html

It’s me again!  FM says I’m a little power-hungry over the updates, but I think, “It’s good to be queen!”  My servants at the U called me Kit Kat and said I might be part cat.  That’s a backhanded compliment if I’ve ever heard one, but I chose not to let it bother me. I have to assume they were referring to my regal bearing, since everyone can see my adorable looks have nothing in common with a feline.

Each day I feel a little bit more feisty, and I have to roust my slow-poke siblings out of their cocoons to play!  What’s with those guys?  Being sick is so last week… I’m ready to go people!  Let’s play!  In my pictures you can see that Hank is trying to hide from me in that crate-thingy.  He may think I can’t see him, but I know he is in there.  Come out, come out, wherever you are….

If they don’t get moving soon, I’m going to have to start looking for a new family with a little bit more spunk!  Could that be you?

Parvo stinks. Poor Kitra is struggling to hold on against this overwhelming infection. She remains in the ICU, with her siblings, Rona, Lwood, and Pacelle. So many people have stepped up to help these puppies, but they continue to need expensive care in order to survive. RAGOM needs your donations to keep up this fight!
