We are introducing Klaus, aka Seer - a cute golden mix that came to us from a shelter where an owner had surrendered him. His original name is Seer and that is what we have been calling him. He seems to answer to that rather than Klaus.
Seer is a smaller dog weighing approximately 40-45 pounds. He is a very light to blonde color and his coat is similar to a golden retriever. Seer was neutered this past Thursday and is almost up to date on his vaccinations. He needs a couple more boosters and then he will be good to go. He is heartworm negative.
Seer was thought to be around 6 years old but after having him a few days, I am pretty sure he is much younger than that. He acts more like a young dog in the way he likes to play and his mannerisms. He is not totally housebroken yet. When he first came here, he wanted to mark just about everything, but he listens well when being told not to do something, and so far that has been much better. We have been crating him at night since he isn't totally housebroken and I watch him carefully when he is out with us. He will need some more guidance with getting totally trustworthy, but I don't think it will take long for him to get the idea of always going potty outside.
Seer is a great size if you are not wanting a big dog. He is friendly with people and seems to listen well to our resident dogs. He listens to their warning without pushing the issue and I have also seen him give them a warning if they are being too pushy. All four dogs had bones tonight and there was no fighting at all. Seer is also fine with the resident cats. He doesn't pay any attention to them at all.
Seer would be great for an active family since he definitely has some energy. It is not over the top or out of control - he just acts like a young dog. We had to let him off his leash to go poop the last couple of days since he wasn't going while he was on a leash and he took off and ran around the yard quite fast. He is a lightning fast boy! We got him back on his leash right away. I think he had so much energy after being cooped up at the vet for a couple of days and then here with us on his leash all the time. He does listen well when you tell him to slow down and to come to you. He is a dog that will need consistent exercise for sure.
We will update more when we get to know Seer better.
