Kodi (Rusty 05-368)

Profile

10/26/05: Rusty was sprung from a shelter today. He arrived at our house and was introduced to all 5 of our dogs with tails wagging. (However, a couple of my dogs have a deer in the headlights look because of his energy). Rusty is learning his name because he was a stray from the shelter. He is estimated to be 2 years old. He needs to lose a few pounds and is very strong. Rusty is up to date on shots and he has been someone's pet at some point because he is neutered, housebroken and knows some basic commands. I'd like to take the credit for teaching him these things in the past two hours but I won't :) Rusty will be getting groomed tomorrow and he will smell much better. Rusty is interested in toys and likes to shred stuffed ones. Well, he likes to rip and tear the bodies since there is no stuffing left in any toy in our house. Give us a few days to get to know Rusty better.

Hi there, Rusty here. I am actually claiming that to be my name now since I come when I'm called. WOW! What a time I have had the past few days. I got out of that noisy place where they were nice to me but I wasn't with people. Then I'm taken to this place where there are a bunch of other dogs but they are all real nice. A couple of them even play with me! Then I got taken to this place where they put me in a lot of water but I couldn't swim and they put this nice smelling stuff all over me. Then they blew hot air on me and brushed my coat. They kept telling me I was a very good boy. My foster Mom and Dad took me to these places where there were lots of people, dogs and treats. I tried to get to all the people, especially the small ones, I love to kiss their faces. I stuck my nose in all the bins looking for a special toy. My foster Mom bought us each a bone with peanut butter or meat in the middle. When we got home there sure was a chewing party going on. Later that day, my foster Mom was sitting on the couch and I took a leap into her lap, boy did she jump, I guess even though I still think I'm a puppy, I'm too big for a lap dog? Anyway, I settled down and put my head on her chest where I could hear her heart beat and gave the biggest sigh. It is so wonderful to be part of a family again. My foster Mom says I am not going to stay here but have to find a home of my own. I sure hope it has some little people and a couch where I can curl up with my family. Do you have a couch? If you do and need a big red dog to sleep on it, call me.

P.S. Oh, I forgot, I went to see this nice man in a white jacket who looked in my ears and checked my skin and bent my legs. He said I was in good shape except for some itchy ears and he gave my foster Mom some drops to put in them. I weigh 77.8 pounds but he said I was just fine.
