12/7/05: What a great dog! From the time we picked her up, Lacy has been a joy! We have had Lacy for two days now and it has been such a positive experience.
We picked her up at a RAGOM home in North Dakota and she made the 1 1/2 hour trip calmly in the back seat - she sure liked the petting I was so willing to give! Lacy is happy, sweet, and friendly. She makes no demands except cuddles, is housebroken, definitely is too refined to chew or bark, and is just so easy to have around. She is such a polite and likeable little lady. She supposedly is about 14 months old. She walks very nicely on a leash until it ends up between her legs. When that happens, she sits or lies down and refuses to budge until it is corrected! I thinks she is trying to tell me I'm doing something wrong! It's not supposed to be between her legs!
Lacy's history is unique. She was with her previous owner for only two months and was obviously well cared for during that time. Her owner acquired her at an exotic animal auction in a small town. They were selling birds and turtles and one dog - Lacy. It seemed no one wanted the dog so this tender hearted woman bid on her fearing what would happen to the dog if she didn't buy her. She didn't want a Golden because she has 3 small elderly dogs, but she felt so sorry for her. She regrets having to give up Lacy, but the little dogs did not appreciate a younger, playful dog.
Lacy has never been to a vet and will be going tomorrow to get checked over and get all her shots - oh, what a rude awakening it will be! Then she will be headed back later to be spayed.
So far, a great dog!!!
