Lady 08-400

Profile

Lady is a very sweet, well-behaved 7 year-old PB Golden Retriever. She is very affectionate and quickly earned the run of our house with our resident dog while we are at work. Her surrendering owner has her well trained and she knows many commands like sit, stay, come, and heel. The SO has to start a new job that will require him to be gone for 3-4 days at a time every week. It was hard for him to give her up but he wants Lady to get more attention than he will be able to give her.

We have had her for 5 days now and Lady has been just GReat; we are tempted to keep her. She hasn’t done anything that’s been inappropriate. The SO adopted her a couple years ago and thinks she was mistreated when she was young. She is a little shy when I carry a tennis racquet or a garden shovel, and she avoids brooms and vacuum cleaners. It isn’t to the point that it’s a problem, but it makes us wonder.

She loves riding in the car and going for walks. She heels on the right side and prances along with a spring in her step. She demonstrated that she gets along great with other dogs and kids. The SO said she is good with cats also. She isn’t real active, but like most Goldens, is very social and wants to be next to us, preferably getting petted. She would do well in a home with another dog or with humans that are home most of the day.

Lady goes to the Vet tomorrow for a checkup and microchipped. If this sweetie sounds like the girl for you, please contact Placement at placementatragom [dot] org

From Lady's Forever Family...

Since this is the first time I have seen where you can update on adopted golden's from Ragom, I figured anyone who is interested in her story would like to know that she is doing wonderfully here. We couldn't have asked for a better addition to our family.

When we adopted Lady, we had lost our other golden to the old age of 13 a little over a year before. We were looking for another buddy for our Yellow Lab to play with during the days and fill an empty space in our hearts. Lady has done both of these things.

From the first day we brought her home she has taken to us, loves to be pet, cuddles right underneath you on the floor, sidles up with Daddy when he is having a bad pain day, and loves to wag her tail whenever you talk or look at her. She has played with Manny (our lab), found her special sleeping spot at night RIGHT along momma's side of the bed, found her special candy cane toy to carry with her everywhere. When she wants to be a stinker she also likes to tease you with it to throw or not throw, loves going to the groomer, eats Frosty Paws on those hot summer nights, and still walks with momma without a leash.

Lady has had some health issues we are currently working on for her under achieving thyroid. She has put on some weight without any extra treats and cutting down on her food, but hopefully we will see a change in the next few weeks when we head back to the vet.

Some of the funniest times with these two are when we come home to find all of the babies out of the basket, which we call having a party (due to playing), the rugs all bunched up on the floor (due to playing) blankets all bunched up from the couch (due to playing) or sometimes Lady in the bathroom, with the door closed, trying to get AWAY from Manny (due to playing). Needless to say Momma and Daddy have thoughts about investing in a video camera to see what actually goes on while we are gone.

Thank you again to Ragom and the Stones (foster parents) for this chance to love Lady with all our hearts, for having another "golden" buddy and just the funny times we have had as a family.

We will send more updates when we have more news and many more pictures.
