Meet Lady.

Lady appears to be about 5 years old - she is a female Golden Retriever who came into RAGOM foster care on November 14th. Lady has been spayed, brought up-to-date on vaccinations, is currently on heartworm and flea/tick preventative medications. According to the veterinarian, she has an ideal body condition and is not suffering from any other health issues at this time.

Lady is an extremely sweet girl who can be shy and submissive at times, but when she warms up to you, she will be your new shadow. She is calm, well-mannered, and knows basic commands. Lady enjoys walks, rolling in the grass, and taking long naps on a comfy couch. Lady is very friendly with other dogs; she has not had any interactions with cats at this point in her foster care, but she has displayed some prey drive towards rabbits and squirrels. Lady does not enjoy to be crated or locked into a single room. She has been allowed to freely roam her FM’s (Foster Mom) house with no issues so far. In addition, Lady does get a little spooked when she hears strange noises or a big truck drives by. Thus far, Lady has started to blossom each and every day; hopefully, as time passes, Lady’s personality will continue to shine.

Lady’s needs in her future forever home:

  • A fence is not a requirement, but I know she would enjoy the freedom of running around in a fenced backyard or a dog park from time to time, instead of being on a leash.
  • Due to her shy nature, she is going to need a calm environment and a dedicated owner to work with her to build her confidence.
  • Lady gravitates to a daily routine of exercise and mentally stimulating play time, she would be best suited with an active family or individual.

Getting to know Lady over the past week has been a joy. She is such a gentle and loving Golden waiting to find the perfect family to take her in and give her the life she deserves.

Updates

Lady has been a wonderful foster dog. She has really adjusted to her new life in RAGOM foster care. The holiday season treated her well. She received a few gifts from Santa, her favorite being a stuffed cow. While on holiday vacation, she got to explore the farm land of South Dakota for a couple of weeks. Her sense of smell led her on many adventures, which she enjoyed way too much. I think she wasn't happy having to go back to the city life in Ames, IA. It has been a couple months of trying to make schedules work with her potential adopting family. However, I am happy to announce that Lady has found her forever home! She will be spending the rest of her golden years with a lovely family which includes a very handsome Golden sidekick, named Charlie. Every good-bye is hard and Lady will be missed, but I am confident that Lady has found the family she is meant to be with that will provide her with happiness and love. Good Luck, Ms. Lady Bug!

"Do I have to wear this?"

"Thank you, RAGOM! I am so happy I have found my FOREVER HOME!"
