Lena 06-410

Profile

Lena is a female, purebred Golden who will be four on 10/22/07. Lena has had several litters of puppies and her former owner was a backyard breeder. She has not yet been spayed. She was not allowed in the house so she is not completely house broken yet, but I think it will be a quick training curve. Her current health concerns are a ear infection and she has part of a pad missing on one of her paws.

Lena has been with us for just 24 hours and already has found her place in our family. This girl is very human focused, she just wants to be around people. She listens to some simple commands and follows us around the house. Lena is energetic but walks well on a leash. She gets along fine with our resident dog, cat and two teenagers. In fact, she doesn't even seem to know that they (the dog and cat ) are around. This girl does not have an aggressive bone in her body. Her first night here went well, she was in a crate and after the initial whining she was quiet all night. This one will make a great pet, she is just a people lover.

Updates

Sunday, October 28, 2007

Lena has been with us now for 2 weeks and is fitting in nicely. She has free roam in the house now for periods alone of under an hour or so, and she seems to be ready for longer periods soon. I think in another week or two she will be fully housebroken.

An update on her rear paw problem, after a closer look now that she trusts us and lets us groom her. She is actually missing 3 of her 4 toes on her right rear foot and all but one of her toe pads. Consequently she favors that paw especially when walking on hard surfaces like asphalt or cement. It does not stop her from enjoying our walks and her time in the yard.

Lena has also taken an interest in squirrels and bunnies on our walks in the park near our house. It is because of this keen interest that we feel she needs a forever home with a fenced in yard.
