Good Morning,
Sorry to keep you in suspense about Lily's vet visit. She was anxious to get on the website so she could meet everyone at Petco.
A little bit about what we know about this gorgeous girl. Lily was reported as a stray at a wayside rest in ND. She was running around the area for a couple weeks. A wonderful family rescued her and wanted to keep her, but their home flooded so they knew the best thing to do for her was find a shelter where she would be safe and have another chance at a wonderful life. And the rest is history.
Dr. Gale at Golden Valley VCA found what she thinks is a spay scar. She was updated with her vaccinations at the shelter. Her heartworm and fecal tests are negative. (No worms, itchies, owies or infections........YEA) She is only 50# and can gain a couple more.
Because it was such a beautiful evening Friday for freshening up outside, Lily was treated to a bath after the vet. The weather was warm, but the water was cold so this was not one of her favorite things to do. But she totally loved the grooming after to get more lovely for Petco. Now her beautiful Proud tail swoops through the room. She is stunning.
Lovely Lily met some fantastic families at Petco. They commented on her beautiful outlined eyes. I'd like to rename her Cleo after Cleopatra, but it's against RAGOM policy to rename our fosters. My husband thinks she was named after Lily Munster.
She met dogs, large & small, seniors and puppies and was WONDERFUL with all of them. She was friendly with children and adults. She barked at a guy that had a hat, but let him pet her. Lily knows basic commands, SIT, DOWN, SHAKE & OTHER paw. She loved exhibiting these talents for her audience. It's evident someone spent some time training her. We had a little dog party after Petco. Jayden 09-023 brought her foster brother Jake and everyone partied in the backyard.
Lily has only been with us 2 full days. She gets along fine with MiMi, our 10 month old kitten. Plays a little with Meg, our resident RAGOM golden and has had free roam at nite since she arrived. She was fine alone in the house for 3 hours Sat. & Sun. She's out and about in the house today. We'll let you know the results in her next update.
LL bonds quickly to people. She has shadow tendencies but not velcro. Typical golden, she wants to be with her people. When we send the furbutts out to play, Lily waits patiently for us. She loves when you throw the ball. She chases it with exuberance and drops it. We have 3-4 balls in play because they're not returned. Hmmmmm maybe she is learning that from Meg, our golden receiver.
Lily is not used to a leash or gentle leader. She has a strong pull on both. We cut our Sat. walk short because she pulled and strained my back. It probably didn't help that I raked the weed beds earlier. (note to self.....don't rake in the morning and walk two dogs attached to one leash in the afternoon).
She is getting more comfortable and we are learning new stuff about her constantly. The next update will have a wish list for her forever family. Stay tuned........Thank you.
