Wow, so much has changed in just a few days! Lulu has really started to come out of her shell. The first couple of days she was SO timid and was doing a lot of submissive urination... over normal things like going in and out of doors, and in and out of cars, not to mention greetings.
Today she is acting like a confident young lady w/ her foster family, playing w/ the resident fur boy, and even starting to take toys away from him, and put him in his place. She's eating well, has been to the vet and brought up to date on shots, micro-chipped, and been given a clean bill of health (except for the standard ear infection, of course). She was previously spayed so she is ready to go!
And that brings me to the last bit of news... Lulu is also being adopted, by the M family! I was hesitant to meet with families before I felt like I'd seen the 'real' LuAnn, but this family convinced me they would love her no matter what, and they are willing and eager to give her the time and patience necessary to help her realize her full potential (after all, she pee'd all over the place when they first arrived :-)). Lu will have her very own mom and dad, and 2 college-age brothers, who are up to the task of building her confidence and bringing out her playful happy carefree side. Her forever dad is affectionately called the "Dog Whisperer" in their family, so we expect to get an update on Lulu's training success and new repertoire of tricks, as he is known for teaching. Lastly, but definitely not least, Lulu will have her very own forever Mom (which she's never had before) to nurture and love her, and maybe even take her on as a running partner. All will make sure Lulu knows the joy of exercise (which will help her to regain her girlish figure) and lots of love and attention.
Although selfishly, I wish I'd had more time with this sweet girl, I look forward to hearing the stories about how far she has come and how wonderful she is doing. Congratulations LuAnn! Father Gene will be very proud of you.
