Lucky 10-114

Profile

Lucky arrived in St. Paul Saturday afternoon. He came to Ragom with his pal Nugget 01-248. They were separated and are now each in different foster homes. In the ideal world, they will be reunited in their adoptive home.

Lucky arrived in St. Paul after a couple of hours in the car.. Lucky and Nugget left their surrendering home together, Nugget met his transport about half way to St. Paul and they were separated and Lucky continued on alone...I've been told he was a total gentleman for the entire journey. He met his foster family with zero issues....dogs, cats, rabbits, people. He came with lots of stuff, a nice bed, toys, some food, lots of records....he is a senior, so he has lots of records. His vet records show he was born in May 1999....which indicate that he's going to be 11 in a month. His records also show he weighed 71 pounds last week....so we'll go with that.

First order of business was a bath and nail trim. He loved his bath and tolerated his nail trim. He explored the main floor of the house, found a bed in one of the bedrooms and that was it for the day. I did get him to eat dinner and get him outside once more to potty, but he had had enough, he went back to bed and didn't make a sound until we got up this morning. He has been outside again, eaten and is hanging out with my two goldens as I type this.

We will visit the vet in the next week or so and I'll update again as we get to know him....so far, he's a sweet senior that would love to find a nice place to spend his remaining years.

Lucky is still in foster care. This week, another dog came for a few days. Lucky barked at her for about an hour, we all went to bed (she came at 9 p.m.) and by the next morning, he accepted her as if he'd known her all his life. He wasn't aggressive, he just barked at her. Hopefully, as he stays here, he'll adjust to the comings and goings of various dogs....we have a busy summer of babysitting set up and Lucky needs to adjust to the program. I'm not worried.

On Saturday afternoon, we went to the Ragom event at a Petco in Maplewood. He had his nails trimmed again....he did much better this time and they are much shorter than they were when he arrived here three weeks ago, still longer than I like, but in a couple more weeks we'll get them trimmed again. He also wasn't as stressed out during this event. He needs his space from other dogs but he is learning to love the petting he gets from visitors.

He also developed a "hot spot" this weekend which warranted a trip to the vet this morning. He now weighs 81 pounds....still on a diet, but a much more acceptable weight for him than his original weight of 86 pounds They shaved the nasty spot, gave me multiple medications and hopefully that nasty hot spot will be history in a few days. He doesn't like it at the vet and was glad to get in the car at the end of our visit.

He continues to be easy to have around and he has bonded with me, so I know he'll bond with you too. If you have space in your heart for an older gent, he would love to spend his remaining years with you. Email placement if you are interested in Lucky.

Lucky is very food motivated....

Lucky will stare at you lovingly, especially if you are holding a treat
