We took a road trip to pick up Lucy Calabash the day after Christmas (Calabash as in "goodnight Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are" we are told). Once she was in the car we had a side trip to make before returning home. In all she traveled almost 200 miles with us on that first day. And she does travel well. Once home she was a little leery of our resident dog (but, in all honesty, our resident is an Irish Terrier so any reservations are probably deserved).
Yesterday was a very busy day for her. We took her to be groomed early in the morning and found out she had already bonded with me and was not going to let me out of her sight. She started barking and wouldn't stop, so I stayed by her side to be groomed and she got an A+. Yesterday afternoon she went to the vet and got a glowing report; Miss Lucy is in excellent shape. She weighted in at 58 lbs. Everything about this girl is just about perfect. She is fully house trained, walks great on a gentle leader (and not too badly on leash) and sleeps at the foot of our bed without any complaints. Also she plays really well with our resident dog.
We are still getting to know this beautiful, really red, girl but other than a little barking we haven't found much wrong. She is planning to be with us on Sunday afternoon from noon to five at the Land O' Lakes dog show if you'd like to meet her in person.
