Lucy is a beautiful 8 year old PB golden with a very reddish coat. She has wonderful manners, is very affectionate, does not go onto furniture, does not counter surf and is completely house broken. She does not have storm anxiety and seems to get along fine with other dogs but I don’t know about cats. When we come home after work Lucy dances in circles wanting lots of pets and attention but she does not jump up. She is really quite a lady if a little overweight. Lucy needs to lose 10 to 15 pounds which we are working on.

This dear girl does have one problem. Lucy has a torn Achilles tendon in her left rear leg. She got it playing ball with her previous owner. Lucy was surrendered to RAGOM and came into our life because the previous owner could not afford the surgery to fix her leg and couldn’t stand to see her in pain even though his vet told him Lucy could just stay on pain pills for the rest of her life and not have the surgery to correct her leg! He was very sad to see Lucy go but he wanted the best for her. Hopefully Lucy will be going in for surgery within the next couple of weeks.

Lucy is really very active even with her bad leg. She loves to go for walks every day and if it is raining she is very disappointed that we don’t go. Lucy loves to swim. We went to the cabin over Memorial Day weekend and she was in and out of the water all day and loved exploring in the woods.

Lucy is on pain medication twice a day but she never complains about her leg. I have never heard her whimper or cry. She does get tired and then she limps a little more than usual or holds her leg up. I can't wait for her to have the surgery she needs so she can be back to her wonderful playful self.

Lucy went to the dog park on Sunday and she had so much fun playing with the other dogs in the puppy pond and running through the woods and fields. She likes other dogs but she would rather be the only dog in the home because that’s what she is used to and she wants all of your love and attention.

Lucy is a lover but not a smother. She will request pets and then will go and lay down for awhile and then she'll come back and want to play for 5 or 10 minutes and then she'll just lay down again and look at you with love in her eyes. Lucy is a very sweet girl looking for a furever home.

Lucy received sponsors as a wedding present! Isn't that just the most wonderful idea! Thank you sponsors! Lucy really thanks you too.

She had her last vet appointment for her ACL surgery Monday and everything is great. Lucy's personality has really blossomed now that she is not in pain any more. As you can see from the photos she loves the water. Lucy never learned how to retrieve but she chases sticks that you throw into the water, she will bring them to the shore, chew on them a bit and then want you to do it all again.

We went to the dog park for the first time yesterday afternoon. I wasn't sure how Lucy would react because like most dogs when we walked around the block and encountered another dog behind a fence they both barked and postured with each other. Lucy was a champ. I think she might have gone into scent overload for a bit though. Lucy acknowledged a couple of dogs and romped with a few but ignored most. I was very proud of her.

I feel Lucy could go just about anywhere and be a well behaved lady. I don't want to give anyone the idea that Lucy is perfect because like all of us she has her foibles too. I have given up trying to fill up the depression under the maple tree in the back yard where she likes to sleep and soft toys will last only as long as your back is turned until all of the stuffing is removed but Lucy is a very happy girl and very sweet and loving and so deserving of the golden life.

Lucy is doing absolutely wonderfully! She is so happy that she can go on walks now that her leg is healing so well. She is not limping anymore and is acting more like a frisky golden every day. Last weekend we went swimming up at the cabin and I think Lucy thought she was in heaven. It was really funny to see her chasing and trying to catch tadpoles in the water.

Lucy looks at me so funny when we are doing the therapy for her leg. There are some leg stretches and massaging to be done every day. Lucy is not sure why we concentrate on her leg but as long as we are petting her and paying all of our attention to her she is lov’n it. Lucy loves pets, cuddles and hugs. She is also a great listener. Lucy will cock to one side her head when you're talking to her, like she understands completely and agrees with everything you say.

Next week is the big day at the vets. X-rays will be taken to make sure everything went well with her surgery but the way Lucy is walking and acting I don’t have any doubt the she will get the best treat possible from the vet – a clean bill of health.
