In loving memory of Lucy 2010 - 2016 Our beloved Lucy was tearfully put to rest after losing her fight to cancer. This is our second RAGOM forever friend that has shared her love with us.
Lucy was a part of our family and had a personality and smile that was contagious. She will be missed by our family and many friends. We first met Lucy, who was fostered by the same family that fostered our first RAGOM dog, Molly. We never thought Molly could be replaced, but Lucy was destined to be with us.
After meeting Lucy for the first time, our family gathered at a restaurant to decide if she was coming home with us. My wife and two children and I voted with secret ballots and we all decided that yes, we wanted her home with us. Walking out of the restaurant, we were shocked to see a statute of the peanuts character Lucy. It was fate that she was ours! In our short three years together, Lucy loved the water, loved chasing balls, and loved being with people.
This is nothing particularly unusual for a Golden, but Lucy behaved in a way that gave us nothing but fun, love and joy. I will never forget our times at the lake, our stays in hotels, our hikes on state trails, and of course our car rides to see Grandma. And she made us laugh and appreciate the ordinary things in life. More than anything, Lucy wanted to be with us, spoke with us through her expressive eyes and showed us that she cared. I didn’t want to part ways with Lucy, but it was time. We needed to consider her dignity and suffering, not just my not wanting to let go. I hope Lucy felt as lucky to have us and we were so lucky to have her. John, Geri, Margie and Jack E. |
