Lucy did really well at the picnic. She was shaking a bit from the ride down, and then was a little disconcerted with all the people and dogs around her, but by the end of the day, she was relaxed enough to lay down and nap in the grass. She continues to do well at home. She sleeps all night on her dog bed in the corner of the bedroom. Sometimes she will jump up and sleep with me. She likes to snuggle and put her head on my pillow. She has the coldest and wettest nose I have ever felt, and she likes to stick it in your face early in the morning. It is a shocking way to wake up! She is really into us petting her and can be quite insistent if you stop, doing the 'nose under the arm' thing to get you going again. She has really gotten close to our Cocker Spaniel. This morning they were both lying on the sofa together, with Ginger laying across Lucy's front legs. Lucy then started to give Ginger a bath by licking her ears and cleaning her up. Now this is really big, as my Cocker does not like when dogs touch her, unless they are playing rough. So it was very cute to see, and of course, I did not have a camera near by to document it!Lucy also gets along well with one of our cats, Oliver. He'll rub up against her and she'll just sniff him and give him a lick or two. As you can see in one of the pics, they are laying right by each other on the sofa. (Yes we do let Lucy on the sofa now and then, it's hard to say no, as she just LOVES the soft stuff!)She is very good about listening to the word 'No'. If she picks something up that is not hers, all we have to say is a low 'Noooo', and she will drop it with a guilty look. She now sits on command, and we are teaching her to not jump up on us when we get home, or when she is excited. She is learning that she needs 'four on the floor' in order to get a pet. She is a very sweet girl, and I will thoroughly miss her when she finds her forever home!So here are the following items Lucy needs:
- A yard with a fence, invisible fence, or family that is willing to take her out on a leash every time she goes out
- Another dog for her to wrestle with and watch for cues on how to act
- Kids that are 10 or over, or that are at least 5 and over (we have a 5 and 8 year old that she does really well with). We believe her snappiness was due to her litter of pups, but to be on the safe side, older kids would be best, or kids that are dog savvy
