Mac 11-012

Profile

Mac came to us as our first foster on January 15th. He is a Golden Retriever mix (male) about 2.5 years old and weighs about 60 lbs. He is black in color, but other than that he looks and acts like a Golden!

He is beautiful with the black coat! He has the Golden eyes and when he is out in the sunlight you can see the Golden coloring shine through!

Being that Mac was in a shelter for 4 months and found as a stray we do not know a lot about him. He rode home well in the vehicle ( only had 30 miles to drive). After marking his territory inside, he has not had an accident since. We kept him blocked in the entry way the first couple nights then expanded his territory and he now has access to the whole house even when we are gone.

He is an amazing dog and will make someone very happy!! He is very calm and listens very well!! He does not have any problems with our cat and did fine with other dogs at the shelter, but we have not tested that at our home as he is the only dog at this point. As far as children he loves our teenager, he has not been around small children. We have not seen anything aggressive about him! He loves to sit on laps and cuddle. He loves to play Frisbee outside, gets very excited about that. We have him on a 100 ft. runner and does just fine so a fence is not needed at this point. We thought we had a neuterd male, according to the shelter, turns out that is not the case so his appointment for neuter is set for January 28th! After a couple days of healing he will be ready to find his forever home! He lives with FM and FD in Deer River, Mn.

Mac is still waiting for that forever family!! He is learning how to walk on a leash a little better and now knows what to do with his toys!! This took him awhile but has now got it figured out, so now we are working on how to bring the ball or Frisbee back to us! He is very playful outside and would love to throw the ball inside to if it was allowed! He is a very loving, gentle dog who will follow you around just to make sure he is not missing out on anything. He loves to be outside just laying in the snow bank. He also now knows what to do with his rawhide bone, this also took some time to get him to understand it was ok to chew it up and that it belonged to him. He has no aggressions with taking it away. We are enjoying him so much he is really going to make someone very happy!

Well I was suppose to go to the vet today and get my stitches out after my surgery (neuter) but I went and pulled them out early!! Foster mom kept the cone hat on me most of the time, but would take it off when she was home to give me a break, I guess I snuck in when she wasn’t looking and took them out myself!! But I’m healing good anyways and am now ready to find that forever family.
I’m having a blast with my foster family also, I love to play outside in the snow, dive in and find the snowball they throw for me. That’s me in the picture below trying to find the snowball!!

I’m full of energy outside but pretty mellow in the house, I like to follow my people around and stick close by!

So hope to hear from you soon!!

Mac is doing well, he is recovering from his surgery yesterday, stitches come out in 10 days! He is really a good boy. He has met a few strangers and has done very well with that, he barks when they come to the door, but after that it's all about saying Hi!

He is really not sure about what to do with a bone, so my guess is he has not had too many opportunities for them. Even toys, he loves to fetch the ball or Frisbee outside but the toys in the house, not sure on that. We try to play tug of war with him but he’s not grasping that concept yet.

As you can see by the pictures he loves to sit on laps.

He is gorgeous and ready to find that forever home!!

That’s foster mom and Mac getting his belly rub.
