Maddie (Lady 07-622)

Profile

Meet Lady! This adorable little girl arrived today from Iowa. She was an owner surrender due to allergies (human allergies, not hers). Thanks to Dr. Lisa for getting her vetted and up-to-date on vaccinations, and to her transporters for bringing her to Minneapolis. Lady is about 50 lbs. and has been previously spayed, so she will be ready for adoption just as soon as I get to know her a bit.So far, she is a typical cute, energetic, inquisitive puppy. She doesn't appear to have had much exposure to other dogs, and was pretty terrified of my two Golden boys upon meeting them (they are rambunctious and can be a bit overwhelming at first). However, after about an hour, she was running around the backyard with them, playing chase, and making up for lost time. So far she appears to be house-trained, and has already made herself at home with the dog toys... and one of my shoes. :) I don't think she knows many commands yet, but she did drop the shoe as soon as I told her "uh uh", and she seems very eager to please, so training will likely be a breeze.Lady has a very friendly, playful personality, and will be a joy to foster... although I doubt I will have her for long. More soon on this pretty little Lady.

The little Lady-bug is doing great, and what a difference from the timid girl who walked in the door last weekend. She gets along great with my Golden boys. She and Zach (06-487) are inseparable, and it turns out they are only a few weeks apart in age. Lady is actually 13 months old, not 7 months as we initially were told. I thought she seemed awfully mature for a 7 month old! It turns out her paperwork was located down in Iowa, with a birthday and all. The little bug was born on 10/02/06.   Lady is a healthy, happy-go-lucky little girl, who is going to make some lucky family very happy indeed! She is definitely house-trained and hasn't had any accidents, but she does need some obedience training. She learned "sit" this week, and is pretty quick to plop her little butt down for a treat. She jumps with excitement and can be a little mouthy once in a while, although it's very gentle, and I attribute that partially to the fact that she's just learning to play with dogs, so she's learning to be "mouthy" with them and still figuring out that it doesn't apply to me. :) Her recall is great, except when she decides to play "keep away" in the back yard. I think she might have learned that one from Zach this week. Hey, what can I say? Sometimes fosters pick up bad habits from the resident dogs... but she's also learned to be a lot more confident in just a few short days, so I think the tradeoff is fair. A little obedience training, and this sweet girl will be perfect! Oh, and she is already a great cuddle bug on the couch too!   I already think she's pretty perfect, and very well behaved for her age, with just enough curiosity and mischief thrown in to remind you that she's really just a big puppy! We love our little Lady bug and will be sad to see her leave when she's adopted. Lady is meeting a family on Sunday, so keep your paws crossed for her!
