Hi, Maggie here! I have moved to Alexandria! My former foster mom is heading south for the winter, so I have come to live in Alexandria. I shouldn’t brag, but I have heard my new foster parents saying what a nice dog I am. Everyone that came to visit over the weekend thought I was pretty special too. And…I got to “play” with a 3 year old and an 11 month old. I loved them and gave them kisses. I can’t understand it, I loved them, but they were a little leery of me. I am so gentle; I wonder why they were afraid??? I did notice that the 11 month who is just learning to walk kept falling down. Maybe, maybe, my tail and my big body were a bit overwhelming for him?? Anyway, I loved having everyone here. As long as I have someone in the same room with me, I am as happy as I can be. Add some pets to that, and I am in seventh heaven! More later....I hear the leashes coming out, don't want to miss a walk! Maggie
Maggie is a dear and gentle soul. We love her already, and are thoroughly enjoying this wonderful, easy girl.

Oh-oh...as you can see, Miss Maggie was "busted" sleeping on the couch, but she has a good excuse - we were all kinda tired this morning.
The four of us (three dogs and a FM) have been taking lots of long walks every day for the exercise as well as to take advantage of our beautiful fall weather. Although I hesitated at first about taking out three dogs at a time, I had handled them individually and knew they all walked beautifully on leash. So off we went. Four astride down the sidewalk. No problem. They even wait patiently if one or the other has to stop to sniff a fire hydrant or take a potty break. Yes, we get lots of smiles from drivers going by (honk honk). And fellow walkers don't have a chance...the dogs (wag wag wag) insist on a head scratch or two before they move aside to let them pass. I must say, they are a beautiful trio and make me very proud.

The cool, rainy weather hasn't stopped Maggie or Katie 09-357 at all; in fact, now that Maggie has lost lots of her extra weight, Maggie and Katie love to chase each other through the wet grass like a couple of puppies.
FM has to stay close to home for the next week or two so all the dogs are getting lots of attention...brushings and clippings and lots of extra cuddling time.
Thanks for tuning in...more next week.

Yup, Maggie's still here. She fit in so well with the rest of the pack over the Labor Day Weekend that when asked if she'd like to hang out here until her forever family finds her, she almost wiggled and waggled her back end right off.
Maggie is doing well on a "lite" diet and loves going on walks with Katie, 09-357. One thing that Maggie doesn't quite understand is that two hands walking four dogs is impossible. Or that last dogs in are last dogs out. So Maggie barks-barks-barks her impatience every morning when I go out the door with dogs #1 and #2 and then whines as if to say, "get the lead out," until she and Katie get leashed up and on their way. Same thing with car rides...they are doled out pretty evenly, but she does her bark-bark-bark when it isn't her turn to go. Slight separation anxiety, but she must just sit and wait by the door until we get back because nothing is ever disturbed.
When Maggie isn't keeping track of whose turn it is to go in the car, she's probably having the best time learning about water sports from Tanna, 08-275, a guest whose family is on vacation. I don't think Maggie had ever been swimming before, but she is fascinated by the lake and I swear that her coat hasn't been dry for more than an hour or two since she got here.
Next week, we have a busy schedule. First, we're going to the vet to see how much weight she's lost (cross your paws) and have her thyroid checked. Then on Wednesday, she'll be fluffed and buffed at the spa. I know, I know...the new "do" won't last long, but I'll be sure to take a few glamour shots before she starts bobbing for fish again.
