Mandy Jo 05-424

Profile

12/9/05: My name is Mandy Joellen Trumbley and I am 13 years old. Aren't I beautiful? Foster Mom says she's hit the jackpot. I was surrendered to foster care even though my former family loved me VERY much. They were my family for 9 years, but the little human developed severe respiratory problems and dog hair didn't help the situation. I am current on all the vet work I could possibly be current on and I'm spayed and heartworm negative. I have arthritis but glucosamine manages it nicely. I also have a condition called dry eye for which I take drops twice daily. I lived with other dogs and cats and little humans so I'm VERY well rounded and sociable. I do just fine with the two resident dogs here in foster care. I think they like me. Foster Mom says I am just as sweet as I can be and she kisses me constantly! I don't mind. I'm just a happy, happy girl that's ready for the next stage of my life.

Foster Mom sat me down today and she said, "Mandy Jo? We need to talk". I thought, "Rut row. Does she think I'm the one who put the slipper in the water bowl?" She said, "Mandy Jo? I've been thinking a lot lately about when you came to live with us. About how you had such a difficult adjustment and went without eating for several days. About how it took you a while to feel totally comfortable and loved here. I've thought about what another adjustment might be like for you and, frankly, I can't bear the thought of it." She went on to ask, "Mandy Jo? What would you think about making this your forever home?" Whoa! Trick question? Mandy Jo is officially off the market? Whoopee!! In the interest of full disclosure, I happen to know that a BIG part of Fos...I mean, Mom's rationale for adopting me is that she couldn't bear the thought of not having my big gray mug greeting her at the door everyday. But it's all neither here nor there now cuz I'm adopted! Gotta go! There's a de-stuffed tiger I gotta put my official-family-member spit on.

Here's a picture of my new forever family. I'm the babe on the right.

It's Mandy Jo with another update! Foster Mom asked me to write that I'm a biter and I pee in the house. Why would she want me to write that when she knows it isn't true? If I didn't know better, I'd think she was trying to sabotage my finding a forever home. Me thinks she LOVES me! I know she thinks I'm an awfully good girl. I've totally settled into the routine here. And I don't even have to have canned food anymore. Now I eat the regular food the resident dogs eat and I have a very healthy appetite. I've even been accused of being a little pesty at mealtime. Apparently my internal clock doesn't align with the ol' clock on the wall.

Now that Foster Mom's back to work, us dogs have had to find ways to amuse ourselves during the day. Today we had Comedy Hour. This is what it looked like:

A collie walks into a bar. Bartender says, So...why the long face?Mandy, you're killin' us!

Happy New Year! Things are going just GReat for me. I got to go see my Foster Grandma in the physical therapy rehabilitation place and I greeted all the other patients by putting my head in their wheel chair bound laps. My tail wagged the whole time! I think I made them all smile. I know Foster Grandma was happy to see me. I thanked her and my extended foster family for all my Christmas presents. When we were all just hangin' out in Foster Grandma's room I escaped across the hall to spread New Year's joy to the patient in the next room. Boy was he surprised!

Foster Mom had to go back to work this week after an extended vacation so me and the resident dogs just hang out all day. Then we go CRAZY when Foster Mom gets home. Sometimes I can't help myself and I moan while I sweep the floor with my tail. My voice sounds a little strained cuz I have my tiger in my mouth when I do it. It's my 'welcome home' present to Foster Mom. Except I never give it up. Unless I switch it out for my tennis ball. Or my nylabone. A gal's gotta have options! It beats the laundry the resident dog greets with!

Here's me with my happy face.

It's Mandy Jo with my after-Christmas update. Score!! I was worried Santa wouldn't find me in my new home but obviously the K9 elves got my change of address. And let me just say I must have been one good girl!! We all had a GReat time opening all of our gifts and playing with our new toys. There were stuffed animal guts all over the house (and one dead Snoopy) but not because of me. My favorite present is a new nylabone and I carry it around a lot. I like to show it to Foster Mom but I keep inadvertently poking her with it. She doesn't mind. She doesn't mind when I whip her hands off the keyboard with it either. Even when I do it a lot.

I just completed a week of antibiotic drops in my eye so no more infection. Now it's just my regular eye drops twice a day. I have to get new meds every three weeks because they expire after that. I'm quite the trooper though. I see Foster Mom coming with the bottle and I just lay down. I know the drill. Foster Mom tried me on Metacam for my arthritis but it didn't agree with me. I had the same reaction with the other pain relievers too so we're just gonna stay with the glucosamine. I get around pretty well for a senior gal - I'm just not gonna run any marathons. I MORE than keep up with the two canine loads in THIS house. And check out my snow angel technique. A little arthritis isn't gonna keep Mandy Jo down!

It's Mandy Jo! Things are going just GReat for me. I'm happy all the time but sometimes I get bored. These two dogs here have no idea how to be dogs! I long for a good game of tug or maybe a little ear chewing. When I simply can't take it I let out a big, slow wwwwooooooooofffff. It starts out in the alto range and ends up soprano and I hit every octave in between. Foster Mom tries to ignore me because she doesn't want to encourage this behavior but when she turns her back to me I can see her shoulders moving. Ha! The others dogs look at me like I got into the dognip.

I've decided I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this unstuffed tiger. I pretty much carry him with me wherever I go. I even took him outside. I dropped him on the deck, made a quick snow angel, picked him back up and gave him a tour of the back yard. I show him to Foster Mom all the time cuz it gets me scratches. I bet he was beautiful before he was mutilated. Sad.

Hi. Mandy Jo reporting in. Things are going well for me in foster care. I've adjusted pretty well to my new surroundings and my new foster family. I do, however, still miss my old family so my appetite wasn't what it should have been initially. It has improved and Foster Mom thinks it's because I've gotten more acclimated here. Really it's because she switched me to canned food. Woo hoo! I think she knows I played her like a fiddle but she believes that a 13 year old dog who misses her family should get canned food if that's what she wants so we're just gonna go with that.

I got to go the the RAGOM PetCo event and I was a most gracious ambassador. I got to meet ALOT of dogs and ALOT of humans and I got to go shopping. It was a BIG day. I was spent. When we got home we all got one of our new rawhide chips. I just held mine in my mouth without chewing it. While the other two canines were tearing theirs apart, me and Foster Mom shared a moment. She layed on the floor with me and scratched me for a long time. Just me! When she'd stop, I'd tip my head down and put my ears back and give her the paw. She thinks I'm adorable. And I ALWAYS lay next to her wherever she is and sometimes I moan a little and give her cow eyes so she'll pet me. She does.

Here's a picture of me being the lady I am. For the record, I did NOT remove the stuffing from that tiger. It seems I am now living with a shredder. I do, however, like to carry the tiger around. Perhaps someone would like to play tug with me...?
