Marley (Romeo 08-388)

Profile

Hi there! My name is Romeo…I just came into RAGOM’s care a few weeks ago and I couldn’t be happier. My past was not so good but I am determined to look ahead and so far, things are pretty wonderful. I have a nice foster home with a fenced back yard and resident Golden, Libby. I am learning from her that it’s a good thing to roll in the grass and scratch my back, pee many times on the hostas, and to chase squirrels that run along the fence. I am getting fed extra special things cause they say I need to gain weight. M-m-m. My favorite thing is my walks. At first I was real scared of all the “city” noises and lights, but slowly I am getting used to them. I figure if fur sister isn’t afraid of them, why should I be! Last weekend we went to Central Park and I saw many new things there….fast bikes right alongside me, skateboards, lots of kids and strollers and families. Fostermom said I did real good.

I was neutered yesterday…Mom said it had to happen. Yikes! I was pretty zonked last night but feel much better today….no walks for 7 days so that is going to bother me. Oh well. Did I mention I am 4 years old, have lots of curly darker fur and love to be petted? Just in case someone out there is looking for one special boy….talk to you later!

Romeo had a great time on Saturday at the Petsmart adoption event in Plymouth. We were able to meet many of the other dogs available for adoption and their devoted fosters. There are some real special dogs available...thank you to all the families who stopped by to meet Romeo and all the other dogs. Thanks for the kind words, the pets and for making it a great RAGOM event.

I was proud of Romeo for being so brave; it was lots of people, noise, and dogs & he handled it like a big boy. Only a few people noticed his tail was missing. Ha, we found that hiding underneath! It was also a special treat to meet the new folks from Sioux Falls who adopted Peaches; Peggy and her husband. Romeo wished Peaches "best of luck" in her new forever home...she is a lucky one for sure.

Romeo is fully recovered from his neuter and settling in just fine. He is grateful to RAGOM for his rescue and excited about the future. He loves to chase tennis balls and prides himself on bringing them all back, even the ones Libby gets.

He isn't hiding in the hosta anymore and seems much more comfortable with new sounds and noises that used to startle him. He likes to run and loves his walks and then is content to lay quietly for hours. He is affectionate and seems to thrive in a structured routine environment. Grooming him is no problem; I think he likes the attention. More later...
