This guy is Hollywood all the way:)  Meet Max.  He is a California boy, and he has the "beach" blond hair to prove it.  I was told that he is a mix of Golden and Lab, but to me he looks like a purebred Golden.  He has beautiful flowing feathery hair and a beautiful face anyone will love.  He was surrendered by his owners due to allergies and cost.

He absolutely LOVES kids.  I have  6 and 10 year old girls, and they have really bonded.  Kids don't seem to intimidate him at all.  His owner said that they adopted him, and thought he may have been abused due to body bruising they said they saw.  He is a tiny bit shy at first but warms up fast and is very loving and a cuddle bug:)  He is slowest to warm up to guys but even that isn't too long.  He will need someone very patient with him because he is "sensitive".  He really wants to please his people.

I don't think he has had much in the way of socializing or training.  He walks well on the leash, but has a hard time getting into the car or bathtub.  We went to the vet today, and he was a little unsure.  He weighs 74 pounds and needs to shed probably around 10, so if you need a diet buddy for the new year, he is your guy. :)  He is not very tall but VERY wide:) Poor guy, I think his "kids" loved him a lot, and gave him lots of treats.  With proper good quality feeding and exercise, he will be the perfect model.

The surrendering owners said he was housetrained and had free reign but......he has had a couple accidents here.  That being said he probably couldn't resist all the smells of previous fosters who had "accidents".  He has never been around cats but the SO said he would probably like to chase them.

He is pretty mellow for being so young:)  He will need a little training to be that perfect dog, but that's good for bonding.  He is well on his way already. :)  He has learned sit and down; I think he is very smart.  My daughter is working on "play dead" now, and he is close:)

His perfect family is one that is patient and uses positive training methods.  I don't think he would do well with someone who losses their cool because he is so sensitive.  I think that he would do best with kids in the house.  He could be the only dog or one of many.  He is an easy dog just some tweaking on training is needed.  He will need exercise to stay healthy but he really is a couch potato.

Mister Hollywood here, wanting to update all of my fans on how I'm doing. It's been a busy couple weeks, we have yet another dog in the house. It's been fun but he is a Border Collie and wears me out. They have soooo much energy. I get along with him wonderfully so if you have a female or male dog, I could be a match :)

I have dropped a couple pounds and am almost ready for Spring. I have lost my outside fur and now it's soft and beautiful. I probably lost the weight that way :) Nothing a good vac can't handle :) I went on a walk with my 10 year old foster sister and I did better than the other two. I'm easy to walk :) I am pretty proud so I let the other dogs I see know I'm there. I would even let the little punk 7 year old walk me. My foster "dog" sister has had A Lot of obedience training and my mom said she would rather walk me anyday over her canine good citizen :) I got a low cal treat when we got home :) Yum.

I have really learned how to be a coach potato here. After I go do my business in the morning I go back to bed. This is making my mom very happy because she doesn't like to get up too early. I like to sleep wherever my mom is, either under her feet at the computer or near by where she is folding laundry. I'm a very easy boy :)

I am A LOT better when my family has to go somewhere too. I just whine a little and then go lay down or play rough house with the other two. My mom said I may have some seperation anxiety.....I don't think so!!!! I just missed them and was a bit insecure at first :)

My mom doesn't know for sure but thinks I was an outside dog because of allergies and that big mess of fur that I had. I am very good in the house but I have had accidents. My foster mom isn't very good at potty training issues but says I'm about 97% trained. I am well worth it for my forever home to work on the other 3%!!!!!! I'm a grrrreat boy :)

Please let your placement advisor know if you would like to come out and meet me. I am definitely someone you will want in your family :)

PS. We just got back from the dog park and I was awesome :) I love to meet new dogs and am very nice. If I'm on a leash I try to talk to the dogs and get their attention and the attention of my people so they will let me go and say hi. My foster parents said they trust me 100% to be a good boy but my recall is about 90% so they didn't take any chances (plus it's against the RAGOM rules) :)

Max has been with us going on three weeks now and it has been awesome!!!!  He is the lap dog that I have always wanted:)  He is definitely one of my favorites of all time:)  As I'm writing he is laying in his regular crazy position....on his back.  He really makes me laugh. He is basically the "perfect" dog....with one exception.....he doesn't like it when his people leave him behind:(  I think he may have some mild separation issues to deal with.  When he first came to me, he was escaping the kitchen confines and doing his "business" in other rooms.  I thought he wasn't potty trained.  As he has settled down and become more comfortable that has stopped.  Let's face it he was stressed.  He was given up by his family and put in the Humane Society kennels for a week before he came here.  That takes a toll of these little guys.  It took a good week or so for him to feel relaxed.

We have been putting him in a crate for short periods and working on getting him comfortable and he has made a lot of progress(he loves stuffed Kong's).  He does whines/howls a little bit when we're gone.  He does what ever he can to come with me to drop the kids off at school. :)  Needless to say, he likes going on car rides now. :)   When left alone he does settle down pretty quickly and then starts to "hunt" in the kitchen for "counter" prey.  He isn't afraid to get up on the counters, and look for food.  That could also be because he's on a diet, but deep down inside I think that is "why" he's on a diet!!! :)  He is on the smaller size for a golden, and I think he should weigh between 55 and 60 pounds.  He will fit nicely into any size house.

I really have no doubt that he will make someone a PERFECT pet.  If we didn't have a strict one dog policy at this house he would be mine.  I do think he would do best with someone who isn't gone "all" day.  He loves his people, and will do whatever is needed to make them happy.  Like I mentioned before, I don't think he would take off if let outside.  He likes to stay close.  He is an easy dog; good for anyone!  If you would like to meet Max, please contact your placement advisor and we will set up a date.

Perfect fit would be:

Patient/gentle
Provides Quality time
Early riser (7ish)
Likes to brush (he LOVES to be brushed)
Will keep him on a diet and give him exercise

Grrreat news, my foster mom said I had to let you in on some secrets that I just let her know.  First off I love my privacy so I like to go to the bathroom outside on a tie out.  She was getting frustrated with me not "going" when they brought me outside on a leash, and then having accidents inside.  Well,  waaaalaaaa  I go right away when left alone.:)  I bet when it's warmer and I'm on walks, that "going" won't be a problem.

I love my people sooooo much that I'm not going to run off anywhere.  I like to do my business and get back inside to be a close as possible to people!!!!!  I'm an excellent foot warmer when my foster mom is on the computer.    I would love to have a fence but it won't be necessary at all.

I got brushed today and I even let my foster sister use a vacuum hose on me.:)  It felt funny.:)  I have been eating my food in the bathtub for a couple days now so I think I may be brave enough to take a bath, and my family says I need one! he he he.

I also have a confession to make.......I woke myself up snoring last night.  My foster mom thought it was funny, but she had a pillow over her ears.  My foster dad didn't hear anything.  Maybe when I lose weight I will sleep a bit more quietly.:)

I hate to brag but I'm an awesome dog and I will be the best pet you have ever dreamed of.  I am told that I am really fun.:)  If you want to come hang out and get to know me just let RAGOM know and we will make a date.:)  Beware though, I'm a charmer.:)  I will roll over and have you rubbing my belly in no time.:)
