It’s been two years now since Max 12-180 joined our family. (Or as we like to say, made US a family.)
Since his last ‘happy endings’ update, Max has had lots of new adventures – hiking in the north woods, exploring our local lakes, rivers and parks, watching the last Hollidazzle Parade and charming all kinds of people (including a couple of RAGOM home visits).
Max spends his weekdays either at doggie daycare or at “Grammies and Grampies” because he’s just not that fond of being alone. He gets bored quickly. And when that happens, he gets naughty quickly, too!
On nights and weekends, it’s family time. And Max just goes with the flow. Whatever we’re up to, he’s happy as long as he’s with us – especially if going somewhere in the car is involved. “Wanna’ go for a ride?” is his favorite thing to hear.
While he can sometimes be nervous in new situations (automatic doors and linoleum floors are not his thing), we’ve discovered that if hiking is involved, he’s relaxed and confident wherever we go. In fact, he loves it!
When we spent a week on the Gunflint Trail, he traversed the hiking paths (even the really hard ones) as if he’d been there 1,000 times before. He happily jumped running streams, navigated fallen trees and climbed rocky hills. Since we weren’t sure how he’d react to such a new setting, it was heartwarming for us to watch our “city boy” handle it all in stride. Literally.
Max is now 7 years old, so his few grays hairs have turned into a few more. And on occasion, he seems a little more tired than he used to. But trust us – he still has lots of puppy in him. And we’re looking forward to many more adventures together. (In fact, we have two hiking trips planned for later this year!)
Here are a few photos of Max in action. We’ll see you at Goldzilla!
